I have been puzzled by the strength of the rally in the share price Lord Gnome points out that that APF have been the subject of a review and upgrade by Peel Hunt which is clearly
part of the reason for the so far sustained rise.Today I read about the new Australian PM who was appointed on the 24th August. Since then it has emerged that there is to be a new energy policy. The Conservative party turned against the old idea of cutting emissions by 26% by 2030. This target is to be abandoned and a new set up means that energy price and supply will be the main criteria for energy policy making. In effect Paris is to be sidelined although not formally ditched.
Looks like "green" has topped out..
This must change the valuations for APF's coal royalties.

Thanks LG - I wondered what the stimulus was and agree with your view on the target price as I thought even the 190 too optimistic.

I think the current buying activity is on the back of yesterday's 'BUY' recommendation from Peel Hunt. They set a target price of 200p. A bit fanciful if you ask me, but you never know. In fairness to them, the tip was one of their regular reiterations, but they moved up the target price from 190 to 200p.

hmmm - degradation in the board since 8667.

I think if you trust our BOD to make the right investments - ragardless of resource - then you can invest in APF. If not then you should not invest.

For transparency I am long having sold out in the 140s on the way down and buying back in the high 120's - though I could not get as many as wanted.

the correct phrase in English is raw nerve , not sore nerve. if you want to make a point, better to use English idiom correctly.

bhuddy is clearly rattled.

his soul is full of bad karma. keep on stabbing in the dark bhuddy. you have no idea. you have no enlightenment, no purity and no goodness.

is it gavapentin or should it rather suspiciously be gabapentin?

what do Mrs gavapentin and a launderette washing machine have in common? anyone can dump their dirty load in them for a few quid.

Did I touch a sore nerve QP?

I am mainly a reader and have never claimed to have any great insight, unlike you.

What is clear is that such a frequent and negative poster is probably shorting it, so dear reader, take that into account and remember it when reading his posts.

Surprised you don't know what E and OE is, given you always add acronyms at the end of your posts to cover yourself, unnecessary unless you're a professional and/or pushing falsehoods and trying to mislead.

I don't give a fig bhuddy whether or not you think i have a position long or short.

you can take your suspicion and shove it.

you never have anything of value to add to this bulletin board and have no opinions.

i have no clue what E and OE means but i wish the same to you.

despite your chosen nick-name it is clear that you and your posts totally lack any form of enlightenment, purity and goodness

For someone who claims not to have a position in APF Que Passa, you do post an awful lot which always raises my suspicion. IMO. DYOR. E and OE.

yes, the thing is that they have been talking about diversifying for so many years.

perhaps finally they are doing something about it but a bit late in the day in my view....and let's not forget that their biggest recent DIVERSIFICATION was Narrabri which was yet again coal.

however, their portfolio mix still marks them out and labels them clearly as a coal investor and that is a heavy burden to carry and one which the increasing legions of professional investors who now pay heed to Ethical Investing are avoiding.

so, a 5% divi for a predominantly coal portfolio is not that good in my view and coal will in my view continue to be an enormous drag on the share price.

if they ever want to move forward, they need in my view to have the guts to sell coal and move into other royalties which would command a re-rating of the share.

all imo. dyor.

QP 8663. APF strategy is to diversify away eg the recent iron ore investment. Much easier to do that when you don't own the assets.

So whilst the lower share price may reflect investment in coal assets, the strategy should ensure we see this go north whilst still collecting a good divi. IMHO DYOR

so what did the trades look like the day before the formal announcement of the results? Seemed a bit strange, as MissWomble suggested upthread.

A 5% yield on a share which derives most of its income from coal is not good in my opinion.

Increasingly, professional investors just don't want coal in their equity portfolios as ethical investing gains more and more traction. - That's why some of the biggest and best known mining companies in the world have totally exited coal because it impacts significantly and negatively on shareholder appetite for buying/holding their shares.

ALL IMO. DYOR.

I'm no expert but the results look pretty good to me.

"Dividend
As previously communicated to the market, we will review the overall dividend level for 2018 in Q1 2019 once our full year revenue has been confirmed, along with the outlook for 2019. In the meantime, the interim quarterly payment of 1.625p per share remains unchanged and the next payment will be the Q2 2018 dividend which will be paid on 15 November 2018."
