Nasdaq futures currently down > 5%; SP500 fut down 4%.
Bodes for further falls tomorrow.

Whatever the reasons for the sell off, US markets were well due for another decent pushback.
Taken in isolation, doesn't concern me much.

It's all the other markets that worry me more.
Chinese have been in bear market a couple of weeks now; Asia generally following suite.
European .... off 12..16% from highs, ranging from June back to last Sept. Though not yet bear market, trending for one, step trading down.
Confidence is clearly taking a protracted beating.
Will this morph into panic?
Not seeing it yet....but can come on very suddenly.

The past 2 quarters, companies reporting in line with expectations got sold off on the news; took standout results to engender significant gains.
Possibly, with Q3s just about to ko, this sell off is, in part, a lot of investors selling down/taking profit in advance of earnings reports, getting ahead of the game.

Isn't the S&P500 more important than the Dow Industrials; far larger Cap. + full sector embrace and a modern, weighted index with 24 hr futures during the week?

Wan - I came into AAZ shortly before you and am in roughly the same boat in terms of investment experience to date and % allocation to AAZ. I also took a large (for me) position in ARS shortly after. I read this thread through my working day with great interest, though have kept quiet so far as I don't have much to contribute knowledge wise...As you note, this BB is full of folks who are seasoned investors vs us amateurs! I feel at peace with both my AAZ and ARS positions, though having accumulated a large stake and not having been in since the mid single digits SP, I am prone to impatience on share price movements! I also went into TXP in reasonable size a few weeks ago. Thanks to all on this thread for the active dialogue. Great stuff. Grocer.

learn to clean up your charts .. they are a mess right now

Left hand side of the chart are a load of tools ... press the white 'i' symbol in a blue circle .. see what happens

Trump said yesterday he did not like what Powell & the FED were doing with rates, rising too fast & too high ... da-da-da!! today Dow sinks 800 points and many other indexes falling through critical MA's.

Trump is setting Powell up as the Patsy, imo ... if he wants rid of Powell then, might expect the sell-off to continue.

Dangerous game & might backfire on all the players.

Thank you Nikki40. I had hoped 'robo-cop' would have responded with some sort of conciliatory message. In essence, it would appear that I have been credited with the dividend, which as I am heavily into spreadbet has bailed me out. Prefer not to be relegated on arrival to the Wanabi Board.
