Well, it's the sector which I am interested in. Water services and water solutions. It's hard to ignore Xylem with a near $4billion turnover and a growing int'l footprint including a susbstantial UK presence having bought longstanding and highly regarded UK stalwarts like good old Godwin Pumps. The share price of Xylem when I bought 5 years ago was $28 and now $70 which compares similarly to ASY which went from 200p to 550p. Xylem has been around for decades. I doubt anyone would describe Xylem as over-hyped. Perhaps rather, like ASY, overlooked. They both get tarred with the same brush of being allied/akin to the water utilities sector which is deemed boring and which is perhaps why they are both incorrectly ignored largely by the market. I think ASY IS interesting and perhaps becoming more interesting. Taking a leaf out of Xylem's book can do no harm. Just look at the quality of their respective websites. One looks DIY. One looks cutting-edge. I leave you to work out which is which. Remember, it's always important to keep an eye on what the competition is doing. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP

hTTps://www.xylem.com/en-uk/ When you say "interesting", you use that phrase loosely right? :-) ...actually that's what I love about ASY. It ISN'T interesting. It's not exciting like all those over-hyped stocks destined to dissapoint. ASY just relies on the weather to be like, well, the weather (which invariably it delivers). In turn ASY delivers too. Usually in the form of increased revenues, earnings and dividends (yawn).

With all the bad weather, snow, ice and storms recently in UK and across the whole of Europe, there should be great/exceptional demand for Sykes's products and services. Personally, expecting this bad weather and resultant demand for their services to boost Sykes' profits significantly this year. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP

Flood warnings around too ...not wishing misfortune on anybody as it must be devastating but maybe their pumps may be needed . Just speculation on my part

Yes, a shame that as the week before Xmas tends to get stuff out for the Xmas break. However, we've had a few cold spells now, especially northern areas. Also the Xmas break will probably just a week plus News Years Day whereas some years it goes on for 2 weeks. Difficult to tell at this stage but it looks as though more cold weather is possible after Xmas.

The ASY website (worldwide locations map) indicates that Sykes are now looking to expand into Latin America " South America - We are looking for excellent global distributor partners". Good to see plans to expand the global footprint of Sykes. The recent price slump from 600p to 500p has proved to be very short-lived. Meanwhile the cold snap and snow will have increased demand for Sykes' products greatly and will be a significant boost to trading in UK and across northern Europe. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP

Looking more and more like a major snow event will develop over England during Sunday and Monday with widespread disruption. Staying cold for the rest of the week and likely much longer. As long as ASY can get around it should be very good for them.

Yes the weather was looking all rather innocuous and some profit taking for ASY has given a nice re-trace here. Of course you can always rely on the weather to bounce back just when you least expect it...ASY I have noticed is often the same.

Brace yourselves. cold weather coming. Could be a few weeks. If it lasts until Xmas it'll do ASY a lot of good as they will keep stuff out until the New Year. There will no doubt be parts of the country that grinds to a standstill.

Re the weather, there are definite signs of the cold weather returning with a vengeance next week, late wednesday onwards. Very strong winds likely (wind-chill) and a fair bit of snow around, I wont mention blizzards yet. Up date on Monday as it's all a bit early yet but if it comes off it'll be quite noteworthy.
