Still holding :(

Luckily, only a smallish buy. I like to hedge my bets with smaller insurance cos, and this hit is more than covered by gains elsewhere; perhaps I need to get some reinsurance though... but from where?? :).

Hopefully given their track record, this will be recovered in a year or two. But like you, not thinking of adding quite yet.

If your still holding I suspect your regretting your decision. What a fall today. Ive traded this stock a few times and always liked it was looking to get back in sub 400p, but, will hang on for now.

Quiet thread. I've taken a stake here, as I like the sector.

The presentation on 7th was very good imo. James Illingworth was very useful for me in his explanations of Amlin's methodology.

that said,

the claims from this will be huge and could wipe out profits for a while. As long as they keep paying the dividend I m not too bothered.

Time to buy more. Insurance premiums will only go up after claims, so more earnings in the future.

bought in here end of last week and it had been rising nicely since. Pity about earthquake in Japan. Anyone know Amlins exposure to that region ?

The new NZ earthquake has even greater implications for insurers than the 2010 one.
The price should reflect this with a drop
All IMHO

I agree with you in terms of underwriting profits and the track record of returning capital to shareholders is excellent. Definite pick of the bunch in my view

Been a holder of these for a long time, not sure why the drop recently. Bez probably more of an acquisition target than this one so more short term trading opportunity, Amlin however imo is the best business of the bunch of Lloyds business.

Back to a buying level at 380p? Lloyds vehicles acting poorly vs the mkt despite being pregnant with final divs . Mkt senses more bad news from pre close Tr St's , with AML in firing line with poss Aust flood losses on top of NZ earthquake . However on a 5yr view sector looks cheap with good yields and asset protection . Weak U$ and low bond yields a problem . Any views . Shall I recycle the BRIT cash back into the sector when it arrives? Quite like BEZ at 115p...6%+ yield.

Slide is down to the mixed trading statement. Relative to NAV however this is the cheapest AML has been for some time. Toppped up today.
