I tink the MMs have just been manipulating this share price for some reason as there is just no volume to explain the movements over the last few weeks...

What a difference a week and a bit make. 23% to be precise. Ive banked my profits now and move onto the next one. These tip sell offs can prove lucrative entry points. The reason why I wanted to sign up to fleet street was not to buy the tips but to take advantage of their sell recommendations.

Thanks for the info Webby.

Just out of interest how would you rate the fleet street letter? Is it worth the subscription?

No doubt that long term demand for products should be strong.
Board comments on prelim results were "gradual sales growth" and "weakness in us dollar and higher cost of raw materials has put pressure on margins" These two factors continue to prevail and therefore difficult to see short term downward drift in share price being arrested.

I can't find forecasts for 2007 - does anyone know the figures.

The balance sheet is solid and in the Prelims the Board sounded postitve.

AFS now stand on a historic p/e of 11.84

Maybe they can get EPS up to 10p in '07 giving a forward p/e of 9.

Yield could be around 4.2%

I think the main risk is that since flotation AFS have failed to deliver and this could indicate that the competition from the better resourced companies is just too much and that the AFS products are one step behind.

Im not sure its MM playing their silly tricks. There has been a flood of sells all day. They are all going to a good home as a buyer is mopping them up easily enough in lots of 20k. Should rebound to 100p over the next week or so. AGM in May should be relatively bullish as well. Atorka, the Kibbutz and directors have been buying at higher prices recently which is comforting.

It would be nice to know who has put a sell recommendation on it. Im just thinking Panmure did that previously to trigger the share price collapse from 260p but I doubt it is them this time.

Quite a trickle of sells this morning suggests a tipster has advised selling AFS. Anyone confirm who the guilty party is?

Steady as she goes.

LONDON (AFX) - Amiad Filtration Systems Ltd said it expects to report
full-year results in line with market expectations, with revenues likely to
increase by about 5 pct to just over 44 mln usd, compared to 42.4 mln in 2005.
The water filter firm said in a trading update that it experienced a
recovery in the second half of the year, with revenues growing by close to 10
pct compared to a year ago, as it delivered its first water treatment project in
Russia and began sales in India.
Thread filter sales, while still a small part of the business, look set to
achieve "significant growth" this year, it said.
Despite the negative impact of the weak US dollar and high material prices,
the company added that it looks forward to delivering further gradual growth in
2007.

Been looking at these for a while now and have come to the decision that they aren't worth it at current levels - I'd be happy to pay 80p but not 150p.

Reasons:

- Competition - I see weak demand in irrigation for micro level filters. Competitors produce filters to sub-micron levels, therefore even industrial customers would look at Amiad twice before buying the micro from them and sub micro from someone else. Despite claims, self cleaning filters are nothing new or special. They are already widely available in India and China from local suppliers at a fraction of Amiad's price.

- Growth - has been slow despite repeated claims of a wonder product from management. Turnover growth has been far too slow to warrant this share price. Extrapolate the past growth, and do the calc yourself to see what I mean.

Apart from that the management seems competent, with a majority shareholding. Its a good business at an average price, not a good business at an excellent price.

Apparently there is some buy recommendation from one of the city tipsheets.

I guess we could start to attract wider interest now the global warming issue is hotting up.

I did bail out earlier in the year and bought back in.

Amazing isn't it... Panmure I think were fined for these kinds of dodgy practices....

I.e. informing clients before the market... and I think so were Durlacher which they bought...

But they still do it.... Amiad should of issued a profits warning... rather than have their broker issue a new note..

Will the FSA do anything... probably not... even if they do what do Panmure care for a £10,000 fine... not a lot

Nickcduk,
Interesting, thanks. Do you have a link to the Panmure note please?
