His hope is that takeover-hungry majors will set their sights on Amerisur. “Small or medium-sized oil companies tend to end up in large oil companies,” he muses.

forget 28p, forget 50p

The BoD rightly will not let this go under a £1 and will have enough institutional support to prevent a hostile

A takeover is definately a possibility now and chances have risen substantially with the following news

Amerisur made some outstanding acquisitions when the oil price was rock bottom. These have got to be on the radar of some major oil companies now.

The way things are going I'd be happy with 28p. The arrogance of this BOD is bordering on breathtaking. Serves them right if they get taken out for a lower price than they were hoping for. They've presided over this share price slump when all other factors were indicating positivity: significant oil price rise, pipeline operational and ever-increasing capacity, 7k bopd and 30% interest in potential blockbuster oil field. Plus no debt.

At the same time highly speculative oilers with little or no production, questionable assets and significant debt have seen their share prices rise significantly.

An early end to this farce would be very welcome.

Meanwhile, on planet Earth another 200k of RH's holding goes into the mincer...

Don't think 40p would interest board and institutions who all bought in at 25+ some time ago....perhaps for the CPO-5 field interest only, leaving us with the remainder Plat/Put fields ...or 70p the lot

That's pretty interesting Roth.

There has been radio silence since the last production update and I thought the last report was quite cautious even negative about the Videsh joint venture. Initially I thought they were getting their excuses in early for February production figures. Not sure now.

Also you can almost track the day the share started to decline again from the Chairman's interview with Malcy.

Should be an interesting couple of weeks.

This from 'Jointhedots' on the LSE board:

"just bought another batch, near 400000, at under 16p, pushed the boat out. lol

Geo-Park and ONGC Videsh announced yesterday that they signed of a joint venture on the 16th to buy assets in South America - no prize for guessing what will be top of their list.

On the basis of our partner and neighbouring licence holder joining forces our BoD must surely be aware of this and should perhaps make a statement denying or confirming any discussions.

The two companies together could carve up Amer and buy our Rex Harrison's shares a job lot with ease. Both companies have cash.

Happy to hold and let things pan out now.

"ONGC Videsh Ltd., the international arm of Oil & Natural Gas Corp. Ltd., said Feb. 26 it has formed a long-term partnership with India£s GeoPark Ltd. (NYSE: GPRK) to jointly acquire assets across Latin America.

The companies have agreed to jointly acquire, invest in, and create value from upstream oil and gas projects with the objective of building a large-scale, economically-profitable and risk-balanced portfolio of assets and operations across Latin America.

Latin America is one of the most attractive regions in the world for oil and gas investments, and has an immense hydrocarbon resource potential, according to GeoPark.

ONGC Videsh and GeoPark will form a joint business development group headquartered in Bogota, Colombia.

Jointly, the companies intend to leverage the platforms, experience and strengths of each company and to create a long-term successful partnership in Latin America to achieve their expansion objectives.

The agreement was signed by ONGC Videsh£s CEO and managing director Narendra K. Verma and GeoPark£s CEO James F. Park on February 16, 2018 at ONGC Videsh, Delhi."

I don't need to tell GC of my intention to trade so why does anyone else? My problem with RH is that the dispute between himself and the bod has had a significant negative impact and has been ignored or covered up by the board for nearly 2 years. Clearly they have failed to inform investors of whatever ultimatum they were given and we have all suffered the consequences. It's possible that full disclosure may have been worse but at least the truth would be out there.

Not much to stamp your feet at really. The stock followed the oil price down.
See what happens as it continues its recovery before knocking it too much imo.

Agreed, so surely the major shareholders should be stamping their feet too for a BoD shake up ? ROCE is shocking for them.

Do I sense a bit of negativity Tony? Don't forget the share price has been a lot higher. Oilers have been out of favour. In general but all is good here.
