H1 won't (potentially) be transformational - the "post period events" ought to be though.

Fundraising highly unlikely with the share price at current levels. In any event, and re CPO5, AMER has a 30% stake with the rest owned by the Indians. I can't see that they will need to raise funds.

re: 17:01 - "2017 work programme fully funded . . .".

Ahhh, but what are our average price per barrel receipts on monthly throughput?
PetroAmazonas/Ecuador could indeed be having us over a barrel with a discounted spot price.

As to be expected I totally disagree with a placing whatever the reason.

A placing would demonstrate beyond any conceivable doubt that insider trading has been undertaken for a prolonged period of time, damaging the share price and damaging investors.

Any placing should be accompanied by the Board resigning en bloc.

If it was that good ONGC would be more than happy to start takeover proceedings, and so be it if that was the case and if other bidders came in, so be it.

I wasn't really talking about a possible placing, but yeah as per the above, only reason would be development costs of CPO-5 and I suspect we'd see the curtailing of our fast tracked Plat development if that was the case... oh, wait a minute!?! ;-)

My view is we will only see new equity issued if Mariposa 1 really is a monster and new substantial sums are required to accelerate development/exploration of CPO5. So very good news could short term be tempered by dilution. With a bit of luck though, current cash flow may be sufficient to fund even multiple new CPO5 drills.

Share buy backs and dividends are two sides of the same coin, a method of returning value to shareholders. Some argue that management use share buy backs to artificially increase EPS to achieve targets for share options.

It costs money to do a share buy back and although we're fully funded I suspect there isn't a great deal of spare cash lying around unless they want to move in to a position of debt.

Correctly allocating debt vs equity is a consideration and I'd venture to say that I think Amerisur at this point in their development should be carrying some debt and leveraging up their operations a little. On that basis and with too much liquidity in the market I'd suggest a buy back would be a good idea at this point.

It'll never happen though, if it's between maximising shareholder value and empire building, we all know where Nick and Giles priorities lie. Might have argued that that's a good thing longer term, but this is longer term and I want some pay back at some stage.

Random mutterings from me, apologies if they only half make sense. End of the day my view is that there is more likely to be a placing than a dividend or a share buy back... my bet is on none of the above.

Because if it did it couldn't award cheap share options to itself. Otherwise there is no reason unless an incomplete RH sale order gives them no reason to act just yet.In any case, until you pay dividends, share buy backs make little commercial sense.....sadly

why doesn't the company do share buy backs and cancel them to tip the balance ?
