Air France is retiring "only" 9 A380 and they were due to retire in 2 years anyway so no big news. what is a surprise to me is that they declare a book value of only 55 mill per plane.
What is going on in the aviation industry is incredible. None of the planes have any value right now! it's like being paid to purchase oil!
Lets keep it real! They told us coronavirus was just a flu....in the 70s they told oil prices will never go down and humanity will face a shortage of oil. The top consulting firms and aviation experts told us the future of aviation was the A380.....
Eventually flying will become normal again and while many airlines will decide not to use the A380 (something that has been decided before the coronavirus crisis) some might since the A380 is still a young and modern plane with an excellent safety record. We have to remember that the A380 is still the most profitable plane on the market ...if fully loaded...
This discussion is about AMEDEO but clearly this investment is linked to the value of the A380. Amedeo has a portfolio of six A380, two B777-300ER and four A350-900 aircraft.
Although aircrafts valuation will be down massively the current Amedeo price at 26 is a panic price. If nothing improves Amedeo will default but they have plenty of cash to survive for many month. Let's hope air travelling will normalise and Amedeo share price will go up. The asset manager behind Amedeo will do anything to keep this business afloat. I know they have very good contacts in the industry so they might even get some good deals out of this crisis. At least lets hope so.

Not looking good for the A380. Air France grounding its entire 240 strong fleet. BA grounded 12. Emirates according to today's Times considering grounding its 115 A380s.

yes, Thai is bankrupt. At least the Amedeo leases are A350s. I suppose Thai might eventually want to keep them and so pay for them? They will stop paying for older planes?
Clearly there is no secondary market for A350s at present but things might change in few months? Aibus will not massivly discount new planes so nearly new ones might be a good deal

Who will want them as Emirates own 50 and lease the rest so loads will come back and in effect be worthless as there will be no further use.

it seems Emirates will retire the A380 earlier than previously planned.
Not a positive news but something expected that was already incorporated in Amedeo at 70p before the coronavirus crises. It has been clear for some time that the A380 terminal value will be lower than previously expected but I cannot believe it will reduce its value by more than 30%

6 months deferral is much shorter than others, though the repayment period is longer (3 instead of 1 year). Lets sees what they will agree with Emirates which is the big one! Also no news from Amedeo's lender. I am sure Amedeo is asking for a reduction in repayments? One good news: I was speaking yesterday with the Airbus manager that sold the A380 to Amedeo. He told me Amedeo is a great partner and they bought the planes at the very good discounted price. This should make Amedeo more profitable than other similar companies. Other competitors had only a more expensive deal. Finally this crisis might give better prospects for the A380. More space, fuel consumption less important etc...

I don't mind the deals being done as it's all adding interest (at hopefully a highish rate) and AA4 have the cash. Obviously would prefer they did something more beneficial for the short term share price but should benefit at some point

That cash will see them through a while. Just got to do a deal with Emirates now. I can’t understand how Emirates are paying the DNA and not aa4.

At least there is some clarity. it is not good news since I doubt the provider of finance to Amedeo will offer any deferral. also November 2021 I far away. I suppose Amedeo will need to agree a similar deal. Said that Amedeo is lucky to have good cash reserves from the recent plane sale. The good news is that if Thai will not go down all due leases + interest will be paid so potentially Amedeo could pay in future a large windfall to investors

Metage buy in. Which is interesting, as they are a closed-end fund arb, and always worth seeing what they are alighting on.
