To me, HAMP are in a two year downtrend so ultimately lower medium term I reckon - needs to break 35 to start reversing this imo

Slightly off topic, but do you have views on HAMP also? Moved into this recently.

I agree with you on the paint drying. There are some chunky trades going through today for some reason following just the one trade yesterday. hmmm..

Likewise. Only problem with ALV is price can stay level for what feels like forever before it does make its move - something about paint drying springs to mind. however, any contract wins or newsflow re MRAV would sure help.

Bought into these recently - solid uptrend from July last year. I am looking for 155 first, 175/200 ultimately. Plus healthy divi around 4%

Is something brewing? There was a large (400,000) x trade yesterday at a mid-price of £143.5 and the offer price has pushed up a little today to narrow the spread.

I'll continue to watch closely. Furthermore, the chart is excellent showing the next resistence point of approx £1.90 (if charts can be relied on in such turbulent times!)

Posted from iii.

Alvis wins £75m contract to supply all-terrain vehicles to the MoD. More projects such as MRAV in the pipeline, shares cheap at current price IMHO.

The Multi Role Armoured Vehicle (MRAV) Contract is expected to be announced soon.

Alvis order to boost 2002 profitability
Alvis has received an order that it says will significantly improve its profitability in 2002.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alvis has received a further order for CV90 armoured fighting vehicles, this time from the Swedish Ministry of Defence. The order, for 40 of the vehicles, is worth about £22m.

But more importantly, it will be largely delivered in 2002, partly filling the gap between the end of CV90 production for Sweden in early 2002 and the start of production for Switzerland later that year. As a result, the group's profitability in 2002 will be significantly improved.

'Significantly' being the operative word, chart looks good too.

LONDON (AFX) - Alvis PLC said its Swedish unit, Hagglunds Vehicle AB, has
received an order worth 22 mln stg for 40 CV90 chassis for armoured fighting
vehicles from the Swedish Ministry of Defence.
The company said the order will significantly improve its profitability in
2002.
It partially fills a gap between the end of CV90 production for Sweden in
early 2002, and the planned start of production for Switzerland late that year,
the company said.

Alvis plc and Hagglunds Vehicle are pleased to announce that FMV, the Swedish
Defence Materiel Administration, has placed an additional order for 40 CV90
chassis worth approximately 300 MSEK from Hagglunds Vehicle AB, part of the
Alvis Group. Consequently CV90 will continue to be produced for the Swedish
Army for a further year. Delivery of the 40 vehicles, will take place mostly
in 2002, with a small number of vehicles being delivered in 2003.

Sven Kagevall, President of Hagglunds Vehicle, said:

"This is a very important order for Hagglunds Vehicle. It gives us continuous
production of CV90 and means we will now be able to avoid the temporary dip in
the production schedule during 2002, prior to the delivery of CV90 to Finland
and Switzerland. This is excellent news for the entire community of
Ornoldsvik.

ADVFN NewsWire (11:10) - Alvis has today signed an agreement to sell the Coventry-based Explosive Ordnance Disposal business of its Alvis Logistics subsidiary to the Northrop Grumman Corporation, of the US, for some £1.4m. The deal includes the group's 50pc holding in Alvis De-Mil Systems.

Alvis has been pursuing a programme of disposals of peripheral businesses to concentrate resources on its core activities in armoured vehicles. The sale of the Wheelbarrow EOD product line follows the sale in 1999 of Automotive Export Supplies, Barracuda Technologies and the group's shareholding in Avimo Group.

The board also took the view that the prospects of the EOD business would be better under the management of Northrop Grumman, who have a complementary position in the EOD equipment market. Northrop Grumman intends to maintain the business under the current management and on the existing site, and develop synergies with its Remotec EOD business, based in the US.

Chairman and chief executive Nick Prest said: "'I am pleased that we have reached agreement with Northrop Grumman for the sale of the Wheelbarrow EOD business. The linkage with Remotec should bring benefits to both businesses."
