fastbuck - 804: UK Tech sector is broken Nonsense ! I have several UK Tech stocks that are doing very well. One of them has trebled in price over the past 12 months and is also up 28% over the past 4 weeks.

UK Tech sector is broken. It's like trying to push water up hill, so much more choice and opportunities in US while shortens don't appear to create the damage they inflict happily on UK listed tech companies.

Re the IC Podcast link (thanks, Simon) providing the Amati CEO's comment that they investigated the tech ("worldclass"), the quality of the business, and the insinuations of circularity ("wrong-headed") before deciding to buy - I guess at a higher price than the current 184.4p as I write - carry weight for me. So a moderate investment for me.

Just bought small batches today for a total of 1100 shares, to begin a nice introduction to this 6th most shorted share.

So did I. Thought I'd got in a decent price but now 40% down. Thinking of adding at these prices. Anyone know when the next news/results are due? I think that will be the turning point.

Simon, Many thanks for the link. Listened to it last night. Amati’s comments certainly make sense to me as explaining the dramatic share price drop. Only time will tell whether it is the correct reasoning although to me it is the best explanation so far. We will just have to let it burn through.

The next reward will be a takeover bid at £8.00 - £10 a share.

No worry at all on here. Their strongest growth was already flagged up in their last update: The US - the biggest economy on the planet - and South Korea. Consider China, the second biggest, as the cherry on AWE's cake. No need to use binoculars to see the shorters are a bit worried on when the hammer on their heads will fall.

The additional negative sentiment has not been helped by the FT additional report. Within an unrelated article on Arden and its related party takeover offer, the FT refers to Tiger Global taking a £10m short position against Alphawave last week- just to add to our misery! It was recorded but I missed it at the end of the week. The article states that now 7% of the free float has been shorted. I hate reporting this fact but maybe it was known anyway1 Taking quite a hit on this one despite buying more as it fell( obviously I ignored the old market warning about "catching falling knives!" but it is what it is!

This was posted on the ENET board. Is this behind negative sentiment here or is it just the Press Article encouraging shorting? https://news.sky.com/story/us-senate-votes-unanimously-to-restrict-chinese-equipment-from-telecommunications-networks-12454104The US Senate has voted unanimously in favour of new restrictions on equipment from Chinese technology companies being installed in American telecommunications networks."In March the FCC designated five companies, including Huawei and ZTE as well as Hytera, Hikvision and Zhejiang Dahua as security threats and moved towards banning any approvals for equipment from these companies to be installed in American telecommunications networks."

Quite a nice press release from Toronto this AM stating Alphawave has been awarded " 2021 Partner of the Year Award for High Speed SerDesIP by TSMC, being the World's biggest chip producer I believe!. Citing excellence in pursuit of next generation design enablement. Lots of other big words but nice to see anyway! Refers to 7nm including N6 and 5nm technologies

rambutan2: I won't be surprised if within a year Taiwan Semiconductor does take AWE over. AWE is the only pure chip designer - for specifically the high volume connectivity segment - floated in London. One has to top up, hold and be patient.

Are Barclays not the house brokers? It’s a question of trust, city not buying the Chinese deal, which noted is not their main source of deals. surprised with no real director buying at these prices.
