Incredible how these shorters are are to get bids above the offer - the 16k trade which caused this drop was far above the bid i could get

Don’t want to rain on the parade but take a look at the price to sales ratio it’s off the scale.

Interesting - wonder what those large trades were. If sells, they were being offered substantially above the current bid. I did a dummy sell at that time and was offered to get 412. . .

This is one of those stocks that you look at and think the rating is ridiculous and then you look again in a few years time and they have multibagged because of the exponential growth. No doubt there will be bumps along the way and if you are clever enough to trade them all well and good. But their tradjectory will be northwards for sure.

Alphawave to benefit from chip shortage

Alphawave develops signal processing technology used to transmit data rapidly over wired networks and operates in high growth areas such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing and driverless cars

A newly listed chip designer has said that the semiconductor shortages that have hit global car production will help lift sales of its microchip products.

Alphawave, which listed on the London stock market in May, predicted that the proliferation of new manufacturing plants would encourage semiconductor companies to license its communication chip technology.

“As a result of the chip shortage, more countries and companies are investing in new foundries. All this infrastructure will need connectivity,” John Lofton Holt, executive chairman, said.

Alphawave, founded in Canada four years ago, is moving its head office to Cambridge and hiring 100 staff there. It develops signal processing technology used to transmit data rapidly over wired networks and operates in high growth areas such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing

Yeah £5 this time next week and £6.50 by Nov or sooner. I think this will be on a tear now. Because it will now rise to a premium vs peers (currently rated less than) and secondly shorts will be closed. So much upside risk for Carmignac. They’d be crazy not to close their risk down. I bet that fund manager is quite nervous right now.

We have risen nearly 20% on just 800k of shares traded. Carmignac & Naya are short 16m shares between them. If they even closed 25% of their positions the impact would be very significant IMO. They are short something like 10% of the free float (assuming a ~25% free float vs 2.46% short interest).

Congrats to the guy/gal that said they were in deep over the past days! I’m guessing your success is Carmignac’s loss. More to come I reckon…

I really like this quote from the exec chair today. I did wonder how the company would fair with the shortage.

He said shortages in the semiconductor sector was more of an opportunity than a headwind, largely because the licences Alphawave were selling were for technology that would not go into production for several years.

"As a result of chip shortages, more countries and more companies are investing in new foundries," he said. "This investment in new foundry capacity is an opportunity for us."
