08/10/2010 21:26 | Rating agency Standard & Poor's has cut its ratings on AIB's debt, saying that the bank's reputation has deteriorated further due to the need for increased capital from the Government to support it. S&P cut the company one notch from A- to BBB+, its third lowest investment grade. The outlook is negative, indicating an additional downgrade is more likely within the next two years. | lbo
07/10/2010 15:33 | Answer to Ireland's Problems: IMF | keelingr
07/10/2010 15:33 | Not now as too late to shaft the bondholders! Blanket guarantee the worst decision in the history of the state and we know who made it even if like his former boss "bag it high" bert, lenihan can blame his advisers. | hermana3
07/10/2010 15:24 | do you have an answer to the countries problems? | napoleon111

07/10/2010 09:40 | Agree lenihan management of crisis has been a complete and total disaster. Too many lawyers and teachers in cabinet always lead the taxpayer to penury. | hermana3
07/10/2010 09:36 | herm - as we all know, the only reason this is not a full 100% nationalisation is to save face for Lenihan and Co. | keelingr
07/10/2010 08:57 | kr'good point as lenihan&co are the only ones willing to do it and of course with long suffering taxpayers dough. Talk about being a lender of last resort... | hermana3
07/10/2010 08:40 | Very dangerous argument dealy. The placing is fully underwritten by the irish government not a private investor - hence the 50c price is in no way reflective of value. | keelingr
07/10/2010 07:30 | anybody know if this was more or less than the market expected (1.5 billion euro)? | dealy
06/10/2010 18:39 | Kaj Logic says the shares should be higher than 50 cents given that the placing is fully underwritten at that level. Secondly, the Irish government would love to own this company at the valuation of 50 cents because after the placing the company will have about 7 billion euro in net cash. Thirdly, these "losses" are totally overplayed. There is no way the entire loan book has lost this much money. The Irish people will make their money back on this particular nationalisation. Any shareholder buying at 50c or lower will get the same return. | dealy
06/10/2010 16:27 | kajshares, just think albk can be nationalised any time from now till december,no escape | hassani2
