Can we get back over 70 by COP? Would be nice. Especially as 71 is my average buy...

Decent day and dare I say it a hint of a gentle rising trend forming? No confidence in it and previous support still resistance but still my second favourite defensive play.

Dround87 - If earnings were rising fast then the share price would be region 150p.
Defensive stock because of steady rising earnings in a continuing (permanent) growth market (medicines).

I am still waiting on the side-lines as far as equities go.Markets worldwide are very jittery with interest rates rising in the US and their GDP not even able to service the interest on their ever rising $23 trillion debt, Crunch time is inevitable and quantative easing wont work this time around. Real inflation in the states is around 10% and as inflation rises worldwide so will interest rates to try and supress the inflattion. First equities will fall then property. But who knows , be prepared imo.

It was a defensive stock. Not so sure now the growth has slowed.

I consider APH a defensive stock, the share price may wobble a little but won't crash in these turbulent times, indeed may even rise when markets are in sharp falls. I hold long term.

*allianceBut yeah that's the simplified version. Traders and fund managers will seek out cash reserves during tough times and for APH that means it becomes a candidate for sale. Particularly because the share price has done badly and it's showing no signs yet of turning around. Call it sheep mentality but IMHO it takes more balls to sell when you're already a good way down than to hold through a crash. More bad news from US on Friday. FTSE down with it. Balance of trade heavily towards selling. I'm tightening my stops to the bone. Looking very uncertain for next week.

saeed well to try to be helpful, investing is about researching or knowing the company and putting your money in. So that's the money. But the stock market is often about sentiment- eg where will the economy be in 18 months - and no-one knows that answer. But the market acts like a herd and if they think they see a wolf, they run one way and if they think they are a wolf, they run the other way. Anf little companies like Alpha get carried along.

May impact on the 'price' but has zero correlation to the value of the APH business!

I think it's a little early to tell. There's some big stuff happening worldwide at the moment but I think it's unclear where things will go. You may be right. Didn't hit my 5pc stop yet today but I'm not moving it.

Markets are becoming more volatile, usually this happens before a major correction. The Dow has lost this years gains so I am out for the time being and trading commodities, FX and crypto currencies for some good gains so far. Back in for the Xmas rally in a couple of months.

US and Asia didn't do well over night. I would set some tight stops. If we go down you can buy back in at a lower price. If not happy days! But I think we are.
