I bought the Aldermore CoCo bonds yesterday, 11.875%. at 113.5 very much in demand.

Interesting is something going on ?

Sold some more at 245 today but that's it now. I'm happy as I don't hold an uncomfortably large amount any more and I'll be able to watch this play out without feeling anxious over my stake size.

Big volume today. Can't figure out if someone has just run a ruler over ALD and decided it is dirt cheap, whether there are two buyers competing for stock or there's something in the rumour mill we will find out about in due course.

2 million trade gone through at 238.3. Looked at price now it's already been worked regardless of whether buy or sell.

Looks to me on L2 as if someone is still trying to collect stock especially under 240.

Steptoe, I get forward P/E 7.5 here for 2018....at current prices.This could easily run up to 300p and still be under P/E 10 IMHO.Five month highs this morning.

Decisive move up today with increasing volume kicking in later in the day.

Sold 10% of my holding just below 235 as got to sell somewhere and these were part of the trading ones from 213. Got some ammo to reload if it drops but looking at how the volume continued to kick in after my sell wish I hadn't now.

There was a rotation from tech into fin in the Us over the last week or two, we'll catch up with them soon enough

today we have a decent buy program working which is happy to move up at reasonable speed. Good to see the iceberg seller at 222 finished who was kind enough to gift me a whole load of stock. Let's see what develops as the day progresses.

Looking at PAG, OSB and VM. 235-240 within a few trading sessions seems easily achievable.

I would have thought so.

VM. and PAG doing really well today, but that just makes the gap to ALD and OSB all the more puzzling.

PAG is on much higher valuation, doesn't make sense to me.

The banks are going to really benefit when interest rates rise as their margins will increase IMHO.
It will take a couple of interest rate rises before this happens though.

OSB recovering back to 400 having got through the seller at 390, PAG broken the downtrend and heading back to 425, VM. up from 263 to 282 in one trading session and an hour and a half

hmm. Just had a spike down for a few points where someone sold alot of stock very quick. Rather bizarre as no way the market could absorb it that fast and seller would have got a better price by being patient.

Volume has completely died down again now so we will see if they spend the rest of the day buying.

Economic news: U.K. mortgage approvals rose to a 16-month high in July, coming in at 68,689 compared with 65,318 in June. Economists had expected a figure around 65,000.

Growth in consumer credit, however, slipped to 9.8% from 10% in June, marking the weakest increase since April 2016.


I would have thought a slight drop in the rate of growth of consumer credit would be a good thing as every commentator seems to be of the belief it could be starting to get out of control

Seems to be moving up today on low volume with at least one buy program running, maybe two. Not many sellers coming out.

Added first thing and took some PAG too in the last hour as that doesn't seem to be moving and at worst I think we have a free run to 416

I wonder if when shawbrook cancel listing 24/8 next week ex holders possibly invest in OSB and ALD if they still want exposure to high growth low p/e challenger banks ??

It is good to see this bounding strongly today on a bad day on FTSE. I was pretty disappointed yesterday when it fell on very little volume as I couldn't relate the news that interest rates weren't going up in America and thereafter constraining NIM on a UK bank which serves the UK market.

It seems others agree with me overnight or maybe it's just common sense setting in. Just goes to show the vagaries of the market.


Based on what I see here with the price at 230 as I speak if the FTSE can find it's way back to 7400 over the next week we should be through 240.
