Trading Update

In advance of the end of its current financial year on 31st January, the Company
also announces that despite the market place continuing to be competitive and
having been somewhat softer since the end of the weather buoyed summer trading
period, it expects full year results to match market expectations. It is
anticipated that the preliminary statement will be released on 29th March 2004.

Robin Barr said "I am delighted that the succession planning, which saw Roger
White join us from RHM in 2002, has now moved to a successful conclusion. Roger
has delivered a first class performance since he started as our Managing
Director some eighteen months ago and I am confident that he has both the skills
and the motivation to succeed in his new role as Chief Executive. I look
forward to the continuing development of the Company and its brands".

Roger White commented "I very much look forward to the challenge of leading the
Company which, while possessing a long and successful history, has - I believe -
the potential to develop much further".

Dividend is due at the end of March, so we should see something in February, if not a Christmas trading statement in the next few days/ weeks.

On HRN, they are issueing a statement early Feb, after the toy fair, we could see good movement as shops have always been out of stock etc.

Yes I looked at HRN some time ago but missed the boat (or is that train?). Barr retraced a little today but nothing to worry about. When are the results due?

capercaillie,

Exactly my thoughts, divi good, solid earner, good alround share, but I think that there is better out there. MBY, CKN, MCTY, VCP, CEL, HRN, BBC, DTM. I hold all of the above and may divide my BAG between them, although I think HRN is favourite.

Cheers

Cambium,

Im an independent holder and have seen this stock rise from £4 ish. I think there is terrific upside in the UK alone, Irn Bru brand still pushing south of the border. Good yield despite share price rise. Strong brands. Would make good fit for takeover candidate. Considered taking some profits but staying put.

Capercaillie

My Investment club hold this, and have asked me to look into this share, I have the fundamentals obviously, but the news flow is a bit thin. Do you have a view to the long term prospects of this co.

All the best

It seems there are some very big questions that will be asked about the collapse of British Energy.Just three weeks ago BGY reassured the city that all was well financially and not one alarm bell was sounded.

As we are now aware, the future of the company is in the balance and it seems any salvation for investors depends on possible government support. How many times have ordinary shareholders been treated like this and now find themselves in this position of uncertainty about their financial investments?

As a shareholder of BGY I am thinking of the possibility of setting up an action group as we await news and progress. The ordinary shareholder must be represented and I have already been in contact with several significant shareholders who would be willing to offer support.

This thread could be the start for the retail investor to fight back and demand value for their investment. If any BGY shareholders are interested, please add your support below so that an idea of the size of potential shareholders can be calculated so an action group can be justified.

Yes I see your point, better not invite KF if AJ is coming etc.

Still, surely as long as a guest list is posted, these things should sort themselves out naturally, don't you think?

the pub itself is an excellent venue for a meet, and now that I've moved house near Uxbridge (where I work when in London), I now have the option of going home on a train with a WC! (A 45 minute tube ride with no facilities can seem like an eternity!)

September would probably be a good time, people back from their holidays, and weather still good enough to sit out in the garden area.

Andy.
