14/8/2002 17:36 | Still have quite a few years left so plenty of time. Could anybody clarify the position on self managed pensions and drawing down on these if you leave the country? | scripophilist
14/8/2002 17:35 | I'm already plotting my escape. But family and children and a large pension fund have limited my options. | scripophilist
14/8/2002 16:37 | Energyi, Japan, now that's a bit on the expensive side! I was thinkig more Thailand/Malaysia/Ph A lot of house for a pittance out there, rest is in the bank. UK pension in any of those countries would go a long way! Andy. | ahkeen
14/8/2002 10:03 | Hai, Andlew-san. | energyi
14/8/2002 09:40 | Energyi, Sane IMHO. If I was near retirement age, I would sell my overvalued property, and buy a nice place in the far east, and trade from there. The www has made the world a very small place. I would far rather live in a high standard of living in a sunny friendly country, than carry on living here. Nearly all new governement "initiatives" depress me, they are never in my favour, always against me. I don't feel the UK government want to improve the status of the tax paying working man, just penalise him, to the benefit of another "fringe" group of scroungers and spongers. I think we need to start looking at the American system of benefit distribution, and deter the freeloaders. BTW surely a stock market revival will soften any pension "crisis"? I'm 20 years away from retirement, so am not too worried, unless we enter a Japanese type scenario, of course. Andy. | ahkeen
14/8/2002 08:12 | ARE WE THE BAG HOLDERS (?): . Falling House prices, reduced pensions, a government that wants to raise our taxes... It is tempting to: flee, fly, be free. That is, sell out overpriced UK property and move elsewhere. Is this crazy or sane thinking? | energyi
25/5/2002 00:47 | Someone likes them - just bought 4K at a 5p premium. | the big fella

23/5/2002 16:05 | Nichols also 5% up - wonder why??? | morose
23/5/2002 16:01 | That certainly was in the back of my mind when I purchased. As I post they have just ticked up another 5p so you could be right! I wish I had bought more now! | the big fella
23/5/2002 15:54 | Bit dramatic today's rise tho has been sneaking up of late. Take over ??? | morose
23/5/2002 15:50 | Ursus Yes I have bought this morning. This is a sector I like at present - low valuations, decent yield - considered a safe haven. Also worth taking a look at Nicolls Vimto - same sector, same low rating and also starting to rise. As for AG Barr I think these will continue in an uptrend for a while yet. | the big fella
10/5/2002 15:30 | Solid yield, solid repeatable earnings, low p/e plus a brand that other bigger businesses must envy. It's even starting to grow its sales of its ghastly looking brew outside Scotland. How long will this remain a family controlled company? | ursus |
