12/2/2001 20:58 | RNS Number:7258Y Barr(A.G.) PLC 12 February 2001 12 February 2001 A.G. BARR p.l.c. Results for the year to 27th January 2001 anticipated to be ahead of expectations A.G. Barr p.l.c., the Scottish based manufacturer of soft drinks announces that, as a result of strong trading, Profit on ordinary activities before taxation for the year to 27th January 2001 is expected to exceed £13.5 million. The detailed preliminary announcement of the results for that year will be made on 28th March 2001. I think this is good news, as the shares were already on a fairly low prospective p/e, and also i believe a stake changed hands a week or two ago at a price above the prevailing share price at the time. Hang on in there, as i feel there could be good things to come. DYOR. | mcbslea
14/9/2000 00:58 | Aquila, where are you going to get the time to do that on all the stocks ? I bet most short termers lose in the long term, same as gambling. Now where was my dog's lead...... | addo
14/9/2000 00:57 | Warren's method has a lot going for it. He's made dozens of billions of dollars. No-one has come close by any other trading method, not even Soros or Bullie. | analyst
14/9/2000 00:44 | If you can trade "total distance travvelled" using trailing stops going long and short you will take more money than by "doing a warren". Here endeth the lesson, next week we will have a Harvest Festival, yours, I.M. Jolly | aquila
13/9/2000 16:13 | Oops, silly me, your talking about WB, thought that first name sounded familiar, I only know him as Mr. Buffett. Regards, Foot Loose | foot loose
13/9/2000 16:11 | Acquila / Analyst, Excuse my ignorance who is Warren ? Yours, waiting to be enlightened, Foot Loose | foot loose
13/9/2000 14:06 | Soros and Bullie mentioned in the same sentence, wow, we are fortunate! They say that the way to make pots of money in the stockmarket is either to invest for the very long term or the very short term, but not in between. | kayak
13/9/2000 13:20 | Analyst, even WB apologised for his recent performance, I'm not discounting it, it is a passive investment strategy, and as Addo suggests , if you have to walk the dog a lot, it might suit you. regards,A. | aquila
13/9/2000 11:34 | pommy, I confess, where it says....."sniff out stock", it really means "e-mail pommmy and check which companies he's been phoning"! :-) ps good answers guys. | addo
13/9/2000 11:30 | Addo, you liar, I thought it was: 1. See what pommys buying? | pommy
13/9/2000 11:15 | Probably worth bearing in mind that the course is called TRADING for a living not Investing. I bet LC doesn't have trailing stops on his pension trust funds. BD | braindrain
13/9/2000 11:11 | I think the traders approach would see them in & out many times during the ride! | clueless
13/9/2000 11:10 | Addo If we want to be very simplistic, The use of a stop loss does not stop you buying back into a stock again, when another indicator is given. It also prevents mounting losses on falling share's BLM IBI DUC MIN etc. Multi baggers are few and far between, if you think you've found one, dont use a stop loss, simple !!!!!!!!!!! martin | mcaw
13/9/2000 10:52 | dodddy I thought you had gone. | timeliner
13/9/2000 10:52 | zak i do see items 1,and 5 | dodddy
13/9/2000 10:49 | doddy, thought you bought your dates. | zakalwe
13/9/2000 10:47 | sounds like my friday night pulling technique you been poaching addo | dodddy
13/9/2000 10:43 | Using a trailing stop-loss on a rising share will surely kill any chance of a multi bagger won't it ? It is usually unlikely that a stock zips up tenfold or more without a serious retracement on the way, which, if you follow the maestro's training will surely mean selling out on the trailing stop. Anyone want to discuss ? Addo My techniques are.... Sniff out the stockwatch and buy itRide it hard caution to the windsell when you're happy not greedy | addo
22/8/2000 13:01 | Addo Any chance you could re-post it further down the thread. I didn't save it and there's a few people I'd like to send it to. | cat man
22/8/2000 11:56 | WF, okay I'll edit it. | addo |
