Marine Boy: have you got any of that special chewing gum?
I'm also waiting for a bid, but not so good at holding my breath.

SVG accumulating - up from 5.74% to 6.24%

Suprised this share hasn't moved up more on speculation.
Anyway, have picked up a few in anticipation of a bid or merger.

When will the bid come? Extract from citywire:
"Daniel Cohen, the chairman and 16% shareholder in US charging cash machine operator TRM Corporation, has lifted his stake in UK rival Moneybox .

Cohen has picked up 1 million Moneybox shares to take his holding to 5.35 million. His holding combined with that of TRM totals 17.9 million shares or just less than 9% of the £72 million company.

The latest purchase is likely to spur takeover speculation in a sub-sector where consolidation is expected to take place.

riverbank - Their holding has been declared. As per my previous post their holding is in the name Davenport Lyons. Also today's RNS shows a further purchase of 1m, taking the TRM total to 17.85m or 8.96%.

jailbird - what was it you were saying about them reducing their holding?

Pardon my ignorance if I'm wrong..... but don't they have to declare any holdings over 3%? are we looking at a concert party here?

Don't think Cardpoint are in a position to bid, but TRM have been stake building - they hold 8.5% of shares under the name Davenport Lyons.

ATM-- This thread is deathly quiet--- [Or is it just- DEAD!]

There was some press talk of takeover discussions with Cardpoint[?] some time ago ,but nothing seems to have emerged since .

Any comments anyone --I'm sitting on a modest profit and am idly wondering whether to sell.

Bank Machine is a smaller player and privately owned i.e. no UK listing. They have a network of just under 1k ATMs, but see far higher trans per machines than Moneybox and Cardpoint. Presumaby at somepoint the VC company will want to sell in order to realise a profit on their original investment (they fiannced a MBO of the business from Euronet).

Otherise they might look at Infocash, but other than that there isn't too much scope. There are several other players out there, but they all tend to operate the 'merchant fill' machines, which is the part of the sector which is over provided for IMHO.

Good thinking....I'll check out Bank Machine. how about Moneybox acquiring one of the smaller players.... some of these keep their heads well below the parapet, but seem to have good businesses...

Yep, dvda, I've been watching CASH too...

agree that Moneybox look static.... only putting 30-35 new machines in every month, and transaction levels per machine are down.... could be that there is some tangible reaction to high fees? looks like october was down also..

I've been posting a bit on the CASH BB. There's been quite a bit of coverage in the media recently on ATM charging and the forthcoming Treasury Select Committee review.

Nothing Moneybox specific to talk about really, though I believe they are still struggling a bit on transaction levels. At the interims they said that July and August were below plan - as I understand it September was no better.
