Saw an article in last Sunday Times saying the banks were reluctant to let it fold/ sell it's debt to vulture funds - so who knows. Fun to watch

Maybe some resolution going on and will be saved before 31st March?

From a TA view, looks very interesting!

The take-over of Express Dairies by Arla Foods some years ago taught me a lot.

That lesson may or may not be applicable to the end-game being played out at ABM.

ALL IMO. DYOR.

It seems a decent write up of events re the share price V the price of GOLD

Bottom line is that there is MASSIVE competition now re buying/selling GOLD in the high street

The share price of A&B have been heavily geared towards GOLD

HOWEVER

The price of GOLD could still go a lot lower from where it now sits

Sub $1000 for example chartwise is not impossible

Such a drop would take this share to circa 90p or less

Wii Mr market take a -ve or +ve forward view of a GOLD drop re A&B ..... we will see

Thus far it seems the answer is -ve

Gentlemen,

In a sense I rule nothing out. But whoever might have thought it was a good wheeze to bid has had many months in which to do so. He has not.

Further, the banks will have to be settled and, surely, there is no chance of that.

Therefore it is cheerio to a return for current shareholders.

Simon-Why do you rule out EZ at this price ?

Gentlemen,

I see Barclays and Lloyds (today's SunTimes) might give an extension to ABM beyond the end of March. I can't imagine why: both banks want out. And Fortress offers an exit route which will not necessarily be to hand in future.

Does Fortress want to retain the quotation? I doubt it - what would be the point? So, with the current bankers out, Fortress can see the main business hived down (to protect the tax losses) and the rest of the show put into liquidation. Fortress buys the business, such as it is, from the liquidator and recovers its loan.

This means that ABM ordinaries are worth zero. Therefore I remain short of ABM.
