ramas. Yes fair comment. I too prefer small caps to have a large Director holding, its different here though with such a large dividend being (regularly) paid. It distorts the motive. Whilst I see the small number of key accounts as being a major threat, they must be doing something right to keep them!

The Company is still basically, to me at least, an enigma, maybe it needs a new Exec Chairman to give it more focus?

Hopefully, the (impressive) dividends can continue to offset the share price performance until growth kicks back in. No doubt the very brave will be saying now is the time to buy, but its not for me yet.

PJ... I'd also like a bit more visibility but media is always going to be difficult to predict good and bad ... shareownership you have managed to turn a positive into a negative i.e. aligned with shareholder interests. Fact is AEO has turned a profit in all bar 2 years from memory , not all hitting the statements of course. Dividends in the last 4 years as well. Would I buy today hmmm dunno there isn't a growth story here at the moment and not exactly the best performer in my portfolio. Personally I'll stick around there is potential and I'm interested in Ruperts recent stake. I think the YouTube idea has merit even I make a few quid out of it and I don't even try that hard, lacklustre editing skills, content and timeliness rule.

Maybe these need adding on top as well? Unsure TBF

Some directors were awarded a bonus in the year. S Quah was awarded a bonus of £25,000 (2015: £30,000) and
P Litten was awarded a bonus of £17,000 (2015: £20,000).

Litten £77k
Hale £10k
Fitzpatrick £40k
Garb £5
Haff £7.5K
oWEN £10K
qUAH £115K

£264K

plus say £165K dividends

Who lives with who?

Blatantly currently a west end lifestyle share

edit IMO

Yes "Lifestyle" tiwas, if they paid themselves more, which they could do at a strok, and not unreasonably - the result could be a pretty large loss rather than a tiny profit.

Wait for the sells as no talk of "Special Dividends" these days.

Lifestyle company? Have you seen the level of directors remuneration?

Nothing in that update to make me even want to consider an investment, never mind make one.

Both debtors and creditors have reduced so no concerns there for me, although cash burn going forward needs a careful eye.

Worryingly, why do AEO refer to ''inline with management expectations'' when they refuse to give any indications of what those expectations are? Were they the expectations at the beginning of the year or the expectations from the last Board meeting. Your guess is as good as mine.

I'm surprised it was marked up this morning with the cautious outlook.

Still clearly a too secretive, self focused lifestyle Company.

Maybe Rupert knows more than me?

As mentioned before AEO do have the capability to surprise if they can and want to tap into the lucrative media opportunities offered for example by YouTube , I appreciate that's easy for me to say

Net assets down by about 100k , still profitable... the unknown is h2 as always, realistically I expect there will be some challenges but still expect a profitable year , maybe reduction in dividend. I think the approach is to keep a million buffer for bad times and distribute any residual as dividends.... do I expect the market to rerate probably not unless a big multi year deal gets signed ....

LOL Jeez - I never said anything about liabilities in my post 3937.

I clearly also stated the dates, so not to be misleading. :-)

Jeez CT

Why do you bother commenting when you can not even read a simple balance sheet?

What are liabilities down by?

Also, try comparing the same balance sheet date.

No rush on this thread to talk about the figures released today - that`s a surprise.

Total Assets Down from £3,033,548.00 on 30.06.16 to £2,219,380.00 on 31.12.16 Wow that is a huge drop.

Trade and other receivables: £651,502 down as well and from the comments made in the statement, I guess they are dropping further since then.

So the positives are that the company still has a big cash pile.

Would anyone like to comment about dividends? :-)

CT, make you right there. My big funds and blue chips have done really well but you can't beat a AIM share for stress and worrying.

One day the money will filter down through the markets once the blue chips are overpriced.

OT - to be honest other than blue chip investments most of my AIM stocks have been horrid, look at AEO for example.

I believe they tried it but it didn't work out , of course online media via likes of YouTube has really come into its own since then ... just saying it's a free or low cost option and done correctly would enhance their brand

Come on ramas, "Zero Cost" every production costs, no such thing as zero cost - costs might be low and staff might well be better doing something rather than sitting on their hands or having a long Christmas Party but do you not think they have already considered your idea? Maybe they need you on the board, rather than Owen who hardly owns a share and is way past retirement age anyway.
