Well done, a great return for all the faithful- huge bounce that the MM will take advantage of this morning.

The downside is, how are they going to grow the company without a war chest of any size, have they given up on the five year growth plan and now just want to reap the rewards of the good works done?

At last night's share price the total dividend of 6p paid out this year amounts to 22%. The beauty of profitable, debt free, cash generative companies.

Im not sure if anyone else noticed but AEO was marked up 6% on the open, for a good hour, so I was expecting a late buy notification.

Bit baffling to see none and now down 0.7%.

It seems to me that it could soon be back at levels before the last results looking at the support since then but if there is poor news next time around I guess we will see the really big drop but to be going up in the current market is remarkable.

Well.... never say never but as the thread owner you may recall my original analysis which went to the pre- hale days , bar 2 years AEO have been generating cash even when it didn't feed through to eps number for very good reasons ... the recent results made year number 5 of consistent cash generation , I might have to double check this when I get time. AEO have the Cannes contract final year so will make money this year , I guess some pressure for 2017 which is par for the course and then we are back to the visibility of earnings question....

ramas, Think about the first thing that must have come to mind in your last post, as this was the first reason you provided as to why they required to hold so much cash (not that it is that much imo)- are you sure in your mind that they might not do so well as you hope this half and may need part of the cash pile?

Buffer for bad times, and funds for potential investments .... This company is here for the long term and has experienced life without cash and they don't want to revisit that world

It could drop below 20p Ex div if they pay a special dividend say 7p. I really do not understand why they have to have such a high cash balance.

I am very patience ramas and as I am so young in mind I have time on my side, it is much like sitting and waiting for a fish to bite and take the bait but knowing that when you strike you have a fair chance of hooking the prize but there are times that they take hook line and sinker and you loose one gear.Gear up, bait up and try again. :-)
