Certainly some synergies between the companies for example both run obsolete part sourcing services, in fact during APC's restructuring an obsolete parts specialist jumped ship directly to SOLI.

Yes macarre...a recent trading update confirmed that results are scheduled to be released on Tuesday.

Thought it worth flagging the following snippet from Solid State PLC’s (SOLI) t/s today as a potential read across to APC. Their Distribution Division is probably the closest listed comparator to APC.



“The Distribution & value added services division has maintained very strong organic growth of close to 18%”.



Hopefully that signals a read-across in terms of current market conditions as it exceeded company expectations.

I haven’t looked closely enough at SOLIs Distribution Division to determine the extent of synergies through a combination with APC...but highlighting the fact that SOLI have reiterated they are on the lookout for acquisitions.

Hmmm??? Some homework for me and query for the APC team next week.

A strong theme throughout the presentation were the opportunities in providing Smart Building technology.

We had recently provided such technology to a major building management company and we have high hopes of this technology rolling out across many more of their buildings, I seem to recall they had 62 in total.

Good to hear the positivity on here from those who attended the AGM. Reading between the lines the turnaround is well on track.

Insider I'm not sure what you mean about Stockdale when you say "no known broker covering the resale sector" . Stockdale are the house broker and I have always found them to be very good. (I'm a couple of their stocks at present) . Do you mean retail investors when you say "resale" as in coverage to Private Investors?

Are you on their list for research in APC?

I have been a longterm shareholder in APC and was also at the AGM yesterday also joining Playful for a drink afterwards.

Whilst I concur with Playful's comments I think it worth mentioning several other points which lead me to believe that we have more reason than ever to feel optimistic about the future direction and profitable growth of APC.

The core strengths of the Company in the early days were centred on the representation and distribution of electronic components from ROW companies eager to gain access to European OEM's. Once identified suitable additions to the range were made to support vertical product integration thus increasing turnover with existing customers, the easiest way to boost turnover and profit - not so different from today.

Incidentally any electronic engineers amongst you will have noticed that the majority of the components in which APC specialise are Analog. Their technical expertise in this field is what really sets them apart from other distribution companies. Universities today churn out Digital engineers by the bucketload so Analog engineers are difficult to come by, the reason why not too many other Distribution companies bother addressing that market. And, of course many of the foreign Analog component manufacturers are now approaching APC with a view to using them as a route to market.

I was also exciting to hear of the many opportunities presenting themselves to grow the LED lighting and associated IOT bolt ons. This is a difficult market to break into and still make profit but once again APC have established themselves by making the technological benefits outweigh the cost. As the IOT becomes more widely established this, in conjunction with the lighting in my opinion has the capacity to become by far the greatest income stream at APC.

GHF, thank you for mentioning that Stockdale had increased their target price for APC stock to 10p. I was unaware of this which brings me to the only negative point I have to make about APC. I believe that we own in general a thinly traded stock. PI's always have a part to play in generating shareholder interest but this is very difficult when there is no known broker covering the resale sector. I believe this is the last piece of the jigsaw required to get the share price on the move again. What better incentive for staff to see their stock options actually worth something rather than be underwater as I suspect is currently the case. What better incentive to show a prospective franchiser to show we are not mere wordsmiths?

Whatever, I believe we are beginning to see the light!

An enjoyable AGM with almost 30% of the whole company in the room made up entirely of PI’s both big and small made for a convivial atmosphere.

The Chairman conducted things and all questions answered well.

New FD joined RH in the presentation and made a good impression. I suggested he might like to join us on the shareholder register, so hopefully he will.

RH on form and looking forward to repeating the presentation at Mello2018. I told him I’d booked him onto the Davidosh parachute jump experience, made him smile!

Chairman is very supportive and did not rule out increasing his holding.

Then it was off to the pub with Roger Robinson…
