22/1/2018 16:53 | Yes, positives all the way for my money. | paul_98
22/1/2018 15:06 | According to my calendar it's the General meeting tomorrow. Any thoughts? | adealsiddiq110
19/1/2018 10:25 | Starting to bubble nicely again. | paul_98
18/1/2018 15:32 | if the deal with the chinese is confirmed - i.e they have the funds tranferred from china and on to AVO, then i certainly believe the shares will move on north - 100p+ should clearly be a realistic objective for 2018. | baner
18/1/2018 09:44 | Is this likely to break through 60 after the GM? | paul_98
12/1/2018 08:27 | More Director buying. Excellent, reassuring RNS. | paul_98
11/1/2018 14:58 | Shows we all hold individual opinions. That's the gamble. For me it definitely is a hold. | paul_98
11/1/2018 14:22 | daijavu I concur with your opinion - but (you also?) I hold a small amount for "thrills and spills" - it's not a" buy and hold" for me - that's for sure- but a quick " buy and sell on the chart"- oh yes! | malcontent
11/1/2018 00:58 | Not sure treatment of superficial tumors will be greatly benefitted by the new tech, unless increased accuracy of the beam is required. It will however show that the tech works and further testing will hopefully increase the beam strength until we are at full power and can get units sold. | glibgibon
10/1/2018 15:00 | Daijavu - don't think you'll ever trust the Board (and no reason why you should, I certainly don't!). So perhaps best to just move on and find a company with both a business and a board you like? | igbertsponk
10/1/2018 14:31 | Hmm. I don't think you guys get it even now. None of the information in my last post is new to me. I've known those facts and far more about AVO and LIGHT for years, including the consistent strength of commitment of the major shareholders. My posts over the past months have fully taken into account all those facts. I've previously lived through the identical position with AVO that it is in now and it all crumbled to dust. As recently as August 2016 a report on AVO by Hardman&Co stated: "Management has proven its capability of following tight timelines and remains on schedule to deliver the first LIGHT system in 2017." "AVO's manufacturing plan has been demonstrated through the successful achievement of key milestones on time and as stated at the investor day back in 4Q 2014." "AVO has secured a £24m financing facility to support the installation of LIGHT in Harley Street" "With two systems sales in China, a potential order book of 12 systems" "AVO is entering a market on the cusp of a steepening adoption curve, not least in China" At one point AVO was claiming seven Chinese contracts. All those things vanished and were deleted from the official AVO record as if they had never existed. I am experiencing a feeling of dejavu because AVO is now repeating exactly what it was saying in 2016, complete with their Chinese agents and Chinese financing that was supposed to have guaranteed AVO's future. That is the reason for my reservations. I can assure you that my research of AVO and LIGHT has been very comprehensive and my analysis is sound. | daijavu
10/1/2018 10:45 | Daijavu Now we sing from the same-ish hymnsheet. You point re financing is absolutely valid in theory, however with the chinese (and other) money in box your concern re financing will in practice be removed for good. Off we go! | baner
10/1/2018 10:31 | Daijavu, the best post of the week! you have summarised very well. I agree with Paul while there is always a risk in any share any risks of AVO raising more cash if indeed it is required is not a risk at all IMO. The company has superb backing from a consortium of very very high net worth investors as well as the Chinese now. While the principle investors and BOD may well have an exit strategy you can be pretty certain they will not sell out anywhere near the current market cap. So IMO all looks very promising for substantial returns to come. | makeamillion1
09/1/2018 22:25 | I don't see it as high risk anymore. | paul_98
09/1/2018 21:45 | Thanks, daijavu, very helpful response. | andrewsr
09/1/2018 20:21 | As I understand it, LIGHT is not likely to be more effective than other proton beam systems in treating tumours but it will be a lot cheaper to manufacture, install, maintain and decommission. Unlike Cyclotrons, LIGHT does not scatter radioactive rays outside its beam in the way that cyclotrons do so it does not contaminate its surroundings and does not need the expensive and heavy shielding that cyclotron systems have to have. It means that LIGHT is cheap enough to be afforded by any hospital and safe enough to be installed in any existing building. It has the potential to not only greatly increase the availability of proton beam therapy but replace all existing photon radiotherapy systems and also, perhaps, replace Xray machines for routine diagnostic scans. The potential worldwide market for LIGHT is enormous. imho. the only potential fly in the ointment is the questionable ability of the BoD to acquire sufficient cash to make it happen under AVO's ownership. It is only that small detail that makes AVO a high risk investment. | daijavu
09/1/2018 14:37 | A proton therapy centre has recently opened in Manchester and one soon in London by others, but at a cost of £125m each. The Light system costs about £40m and is maybe more effective at treating tumours (?). | andrewsr
09/1/2018 14:07 | thanks makeamillion1 | twirl
09/1/2018 13:04 | twirl, I would not focus too much on LIGHT's ability in treating superficial tumors, all we know is that an important landmark will have been achieved in bringing all the components of the LIGHT system together and having a proton beam that has reached a speed that it can treat superficial tumors. It will be as I understand at this stage the first modular proton therapy system capable of doing this....the next stage is to accelerate the beam even faster so that it can target deeper internal organs. Hope my layman's interpretation helps. | makeamillion1
09/1/2018 12:39 | Is anyone aware what LIGHT adds to established methods for treating superficial tumours? | twirl
09/1/2018 10:52 | Daijavu, Geneva was mentioned as a testing site in the March Investor presentation, it is where their R&D Centre and CERN are based, last year I also attended AGM's and heard the board detail that they would be treating superficial tumors at the testing site which would make sense with all the ADAM / CERN expertise there. The board have also on numerous occasions invited investors to visit their Geneva site....I am sure they will have many visits from all over the world when LIGHT is treating superficial tumors. I agree it is not good to put all your eggs in one basket, AVO is however one of my most exciting investments. GLA | makeamillion1
09/1/2018 09:49 | Make a million and banner. If making money investing in a number of companies including AVO means having a breakdown then I am truly having a breakdown. I am fully aware that the AVO BoD and other major shareholders have put a lot of money into AVO. I have been involved with AVO for a long time. However, it is always best to be aware of the whole picture of which the history of the company is an important part. It is also advisable not to make one company your only investment. It can make you edgy when people point out realities that you don't want to hear. Incidentally, what makes you think that the Geneva establishment is a suitable place for treatment? It is not a clinic. It is a laboratory full of machinery where hard hats are worn. Or do you have information not known to anyone else? | daijavu
08/1/2018 20:46 | Andy Read the whole story please.............D | baner |
