We upgrade AVO to OUTPERFORM with a fair value of 155 GBp. The company has significant growth potential in the nascent Proton therapy ("PT") industry. The dented growth trajectory from the industry leaders in PT signals the limitation of the conventional cyclotron technology in PT. We are encouraged by AVO's technology to benefit from this bottleneck through delivery of a better and easier-to-install technology with its PT Linac. Execution on scaling up production will easily lower machine prices and therefore represents a significant opportunity to expand margins on the services business, which will remain at a higher price level. We are also encouraged by an upgraded management team, which is experienced in installations, service and sales - OUTPERFORM.

I think there is some confusion over the "science" here. There are similar technologies, but not identical to AVO planned system, which aims to create more efficient and accurate and cheaper system within more compact size - hence will fit into a "small" central London site - Harley Street - for first Ops. (Harley Street is - actually where I think - town houses in days gone by!)

Otherwise we wouldn't be where we are.....but all too detailed to have a big discussion on a BB board about.

The 'research' just published is really very poor. Management might as well just put out a presentation. At least it makes clear more money will be needed/debt revised so at least they are letting holders know that!

I don't think there is any doubt about the underlying science. It is well proven to work over many decades. I also have a lot of confidence in the LIGHT technology, given its provenance from CERN.

My doubts are about the BoD and their ability to run the business successfully. They have not got a good track record.

Thanks Daijavu (apologies to other peeps! :) )

And on AVO.....big gamble, if the science proves itself - then the sky's the limit.

They screwed up on financing routes previously with massive dilution and share share price devaluing, and not being “honest” and having sense to see/say what was happening. If recent financing and other related issues turn solid, then it's a game changer....

But I don’t and never have believed the BoD were going to sacrifice their hard-won medical/scientific pedigrees for a quick dishonest ride and salaries on an AIM Co. They just lacked hard-nosed stock market experience and acumen.

So it’s back to the science really…..if it works there won’t be a better time to buy later. (save for outside events)

I got out of KEA just after the news broke but before anything else happened. I went to look for them sometime after but there was no news of them.

As for AVO, I lived through the previous debacle. I have dipped my toe back in since but am now out because they seem to be repeating their previous mistakes. I am keeping an eye on them in the hope that something good might happen.

My personal opinion is that even if they come good, they will not do much for years and neither will the share price

Daijavu, did you hold stock in KEA when it went under.....have you followed what happended after. Given there was a revenue generating asset, albeit small, I thought there was going to be someting left after debits paid....have never heard anything.

PANR reminds me of KEA.

KEA were drilling into a large oilfield in the middle of a major oil producing area in New Zealand. They were aiming at the sweet spot to maximise production.

All was going well until they got to the oilfield and discovered that it contained lots of water but no oil.

Just like PANR, their sensors did not detect the water.

Total agreement - once the chinese deal is completed these should go back to the 50+ long term heading for a large multiple of that.

no idea re the chinese funds - this is no doubt overdue and the company must inform shareholders what the position is. i assume this delay is a breach of contract and accordingly these people should not be allowed to join the board.

Baner,

The way these gys invest is often scattergun, as long as 1 on 10 does really well, they can take a few failures.

Re AVO, When are they going to announce the completion of the Chinese transaction, do you know?

who is not capable of doing mistakes - give me one single example please? and to go from nothing to £150m+ at least indicate to me that overall the man is a brilliant investor. maybe this is not good enough in your book and if so, that is fine with me.

let us now focus on the excellent potential in AVO rather than express views on Gillenhammer. this company has a fantastic potential and that is what matters in this context.
