Doesn`t feel like a competition except between journalists to rehash old stuff.

Wonder what their fee was for reworking material which is already in the public domain?

Well I have bought some more here. The wave of press comment is too much. I had to top up on today's fallback.
Looking very promising.
Fingers crossed.

"Sinopec And KNOC Go Head To Head For Addax
Muazzin Mehrban, June 2009

(17 June 2009)

Competition for the Switzerland-based oil and gas explorer Addax Petroleum has intensified, with both of the remaining bidders, China's Sinopec Group and Korea National Oil Co (KNOC), valuing the company at over $8bn. "

"Executives from Chinese oil company Sinopec Group are in London to meet with Addax Petroleum Corp. (AXC.T) to discuss a potential takeover bid, two people familiar with the matter told Dow Jones Newswires Wednesday.

Addax's Chief Executive Jean Claude Gandur is open to a deal, but "if (Sinopec) wants to be successful, they have to put a serious amount of money on the table to discourage other competitors," said the first person. An offer in the $7 billion to $8 billion range is likely, the person said. "

Markets are tanking today but the newsflow continues.
This is the most promising so far.
Am seriously tempted to add more on this dip.
Looking more and more like Sinopec want this before anyone else gets in there.

The press won't stop discussing the takeover. Looks as though tere's quite a battle going on and the price they are supposed to be bidding is getting higher. Could do with some official rns or clarification really. Thinking of topping up if the price drifts down today.

The times believes that there is more than one chinese bidder and that a bidding war will get the price up to £7 billion. I hope so. Glad I did sell at £29 on monday morning.
I do hope there's an rns before end of the week.

Nice gains this am despite yesterday's fizzled out roar.
Looks like the maket is beginning to come round to the rumour.
Besides if they have issued an rns that there are talks wouldn't they have to also issue an rns when they finish either way. Which makes me think the talks are ongoing. KNOC may be pushed into bidding again.

Well the market was pricing in a bid this am. the lack of rns has evaporated that. Could be an opportunity to top up. We have seen that the price will go up to at least £30 when bid comes so worth going long at £24. 25% gain.
