Interesting piece from Utah Forest News. It is a year old, but suggests that AEG's process could make a valuable feedstock home for the problematic waste wood from the nearby 1.2 million acre Manti-LaSal National Forest.

AEG CoalSwitch Blowing up Woody Biomass for Energy in Utah

AEG CoalSwitch is a relatively new company to Utah with an innovative
method for treating woody biomass to create a coal substitute…they blow it
up. Their uniquely patented system mixes wood chips with water to create a
slurry. They inject the slurry into a high-pressure cylinder and administer a
combination of heat and pressure to the reactor. After a specific residence
time in the reactor, the pressure is suddenly released and the cell walls of the
material explode – this reaction makes the material readily available for
energy production and use. The rapid change in pressure could be compared
to the decompression syndrome experienced when a deep sea diver ascends
from the depths of the ocean too quickly – The Benz. Two of the founders,
Russ Taylor and Phil Scalzo, have plans to install a 5 ton per hour reactor in
their west-side Salt Lake City facility and a second reactor in Mona, Utah,
adjacent to the essential oil operation at Young Living Farms (see UFN
Spring 2016).
AEG CoalSwitch is currently undergoing 3rd party laboratory testing to
validate the use of this coalswitch product as an ultra clean replacement for
coal. This innovative use of low-value woody biomass waste could be a game
changer for the nearby Manti-LaSal National Forest and private forest lands
faced with a need to remove and utilize low-value biomass on their land.
The Utah Forest News will be closely monitoring these developments, so stay
tuned for updates.

Goodbloke,

I think that the timber licence will be well received by the market - I don't want to be drawn on plucking a price though. I can't call that. I think what it interesting is that they have in the last month identified a number of other sources of feed stock, many of which solve a specific environmental problem at the same time as providing source material.

The ValuetheMarkets interview identifies:

Crown timber license (Newfoundland)
Ongoing negotiations over the Metis woodlands in Alberta
Coal fines in Poland
Forest debris in Spain, the recovery of which will help to control forest fires.
Salty Hog from Vancouver which will be shipped as feed stock to Japan.
Plant waste from the manufacture of palm oil in Asia which will also clean up the high levels of potassium content.
Trees in Canada that have been damaged by beetles and are useless for sale as timber
Hardwood sources across North America

More important than the question of what price the shares will be when the Crown licence is announced is the question of what value would be placed on the company should it prove successful in gaining traction? I can't see that it is anything this side of £150m.

Consider the following posted recently by DrMaccers on the other thread. I don't know how close his calcs are, but it gives food for thought...

"DrMaccers5 Feb '18 - 11:43 - 686 of 729

There’s a slide on a presentation from AEG with 30-40% profit per tonne.
Not sure that includes corporate costs etc
Say it’s only 20%

The Hunter Power station in Utah is trialing 20:80 Coalswitch to coal. It uses 4.5mill tonnes coal a year.
So say 900k tonnes of coalswitch at $140 = $126mill. 20% is about $25mill profit. That’s conservative and from in power station. Scale up and if a power station wants 100% Coalswitch then x5 the profit.

Easy to see why this could be the Best Buy out there. It’s my share of the year pick"

But then add to that projects like the one with Young Living on using waste to tuneable soil enricher. That is just a side - but it is a revenue adding side.

All my own opinion. My only advice is to do continued research.

Nothing is priced in. The crown timber license (one of many forestry assets they are going for) is worth hundreds of millions

I have started a new thread where the header can be maintained. Each of these previous two threads really relate to slightly older stages of AEG's development. Sadly, muppet that I am, I saved the thread before I had finished the title - had forgotten that you couldnt edit it after that.
Anyway, its here if you want to use it:

goodbloke,

what has become clearer from the two videos linked in the header is that the Newfoundland license is just one (albeit very significant) aspect of what has been developing here. As someone who has held for a few years - often disappointed - I have been taken by surprise by how much new information has come to light in the last month. The market is only just starting to wake up to it.

This was the last that was said about the Newfoundland license, in October 2017:

Active Energy Group Plc / EPIC: AEG / Sector: Alternative Energy

12 October 2017

Active Energy Group Plc ('Active Energy' or 'the Group')

Submission of Final Application to the Crown Province of Newfoundland and Labrador

Active Energy, the London quoted international forestry management and biomass based renewable energy business, is pleased to announce the submission of all final documents to the Ministry of Fisheries and Land Resources of the Crown Province of Newfoundland and Labrador (the 'Province') through its affiliate, Timberlands International Limited ('Timberlands' or 'TIL'), for a Crown Timber Licence ('CTL') and Forestry Management Agreements (the 'FMAs') on the Forestry Management Districts 17 and 18.

The submission, which follows over five months of co-ordination between Timberlands and the Canadian forestry consultancy company, Zimmfor Management Services Ltd, includes all requested documentation, including the proposed financial term sheets for the prospective FMAs. This exercise has involved detailed analysis from each of the relevant ministries in the Province. The application is in addition to rights conferred to the Group under an earlier agreement in principle between the Province and the Group which was announced on 22 May 2017.

Michael Rowan, Active Energy Non-Executive Chairman said, "This marks the next milestone for the development of commercial activities for TIL in Newfoundland. TIL and Active Energy are extremely excited about the prospect of revitalising the forestry activities on the Northern Peninsular, facilitating new investment into the Province and continuing to grow positive working relationships between the Province, its relevant ministries and TIL for the benefit of all. I look forward to providing shareholders with further updates regarding the applications for the CTL and the FMAs in due course."

Whilst I understand that a number of traders will want to time entry and exit around likely news-flow, I am dug in for the long haul. Jan/Feb 2018 have been a revelation. Worth some time given to some research, IMO.

""We are now focused on the next commercial milestones for Active Energy including the global roll-out of CoalSwitch™ fuel and CoalSwitch™ production Plants, which have the potential to change the power generation industry. Our products unique properties and its ability to be a direct drop-in fuel to the power industry is a game-changer. The new business opportunities in utilising the CoalSwitch™ process toward agricultural waste creating engineered soils adds a potential revenue opportunity for Active Energy."

AEG consists of two operating divisions: Advanced Biomass Solutions (ABS) and Timberlands International

Advanced Biomass Solutions (ABS)

Timberlands Internationsl
Timberlands is a London registered private company incorporated by Active Energy Group Plc, specifically to invest in and manage and develop forestry projects internationally.
Its mission is to develop and manage undervalued and under-utilised forestry assets to the mutual benefit of the Company, local communities and asset owners, providing an innovative business model that maximises their economic benefits and creates important social and economic advantages at a local level, as well as promoting environmental sustainability throughout the supply chain.
