I have now bought in, there are few other mainstream investment trust offering a 4% plus yield on a 15% discount. Its not a popular sector at the moment and there are other trusts who have been hit with widening discounts. The only negative for me is that the ZDPs will need rolling over in 2017

Am I missing something? NAV something like 16p a share higher than a couple of months ago but share price falling like a stone??? What's going to close the discount which seems ridiculously large at the moment. Share price has never recovered from untimely death of the fund manager it seems.

SP now trailing NAV by about 13%. Seems a little harsh.
The 'largest holdings portfolio' performance has been very positive lately.

Sorry Alrorob, can see no support today - price still falling (-2.9% now), but I will certainly be getting back in when it does recover.

Having a good ponder on this myself. See it as oversold in the short term so due a bounce. Some support at 300p - but then a big gap to strong support in the 200p area. Chart sure looking sick. Pondering on holding for the bounce - but if bounce feeble - then take my losses.

Shame they announced the transaction in their own shares at 17.30! Not an ideal time. Still watch the NAV not the share price

I believe they can buy back shares to manage the discount if it gets too wide.
At the moment the weakness looks silly and we should judge its performance on the the NAV performance.
As long as that stays strong, the share price will recover at some point so this makes it good value right now.

Nice discount now. Do they have a process for managing the discount.

Looking like we get a little bounce. Wonder why no NAV RNS for yesterday?

FM death (whilst tragic for the family) looks to have created significant sell weighted volume - beyond the significance of the incident in a pure business sense. Couple of large sell weighted trades (30K and 40K)just gone on trades list for today. OK we have had a good run-up - but selling on this scale?? Why??

And the NAV is holding up very well, considering recent mkt wobbles

The share price is now trading at quite a discount to NAV. Imo, that is a very attractive buy signal when the company is a continuous strong performer such as Acorn.

Thanks alroyrob. Appreciate your effort. Makes sense.
Just had to top up.

To me this seems like a very natural correction after the strong rise of recent months, and reflects the wider market correction and temporary 'risk-off' sentiment in global markets.

Currently trading at a nice discount to NAV of 363p, which strikes me as a great opportunity to top up...and that's exactly what I did this afternoon.

Thanks alroyrob. You have had more success than I have, so far. And just in time to stop me selling some.

Quattro44-

I have contacted the company and was told that they believe there were some automated stop losses 'badly handled' by the Brokers last week and that is what has caused this situation.
Imo, if/when the investors who were stopped out decide that the bottom has been reached and buy back in.. the share price could rise just as quickly as it has fallen.
I see that the share price has just reached the 200 sma, often a common point to bounce from.

I have phoned Premier Asset Management for an explanation, and they say Nigel Sidebottom has been asked to phone me back.

Could it be interest-rates worries? There is a large holding of bonds etc.
What are the implications of the rate-rises in Turkey etc.?

That is not a lot for this fall.
More likely just PIs spooked and taking profits after a good year. All small 'O' trades.
