I suspect it all goes back to when North Edge wanted to sell their 10% holding. I am sure there have gone around and there were no willing large scale buyers and hence LO took on the position on a temporary basis I am sure. They must have had conversations with management and other investors and if there is no natural demand from institutional investors for 5-10% of the company at 30p, then LO must have applied pressure that they want out. If they were to sell in the market I am sure ACRL will be trading at 20. I do hope for a higher bid but it seems very unlikely.

What would have been better for us is if an activist investor like Kelso had come in at that lower lever (rather than Lombard Odier). They would be fighting very hard for a higher bid, and would have helped Acrl extract better value. But someone like Kelso won't come in at 38p.

Without a doubt is there a rat here, and I've had dealings with Lombard Odier in my previous career.

This is going to Europe far too cheap.

What were the broker targets?

The IPO in 2016 was at £1 so this has been a disaster for long term investors and I suspect the short termers are happy to exit with a quick profit as Lombard Odier bought most of their holding at 25p or lower. Another UK company sold off but not really to the benefit of UK investors and certainly not those who were in it for the long recovery.

I suspect LO want out and this is the only way they can exit. Do not forget, only a few months ago a large holder wanted out(10% of share capital) and they had to exit at 25p. Not surprising that its LO who are the only backer so far. I always thought their holding was way too big for the type of investor they represent. A shame as I was hoping for 40-50p share price in the medium term

Sharepad probably has 31/01 because Accrol financial calendar says "end of January"

edit:

Trading update was 24th January LAST YEAR

I don't subscribe to SCSW but I believe MCB were the main tip over the weekend. MCB up 15% currently.
I wonder if ACRL were also tipped as buying in the first 6 minutes of trading this morning was a similar pattern to MCB.
MCB and ACRL both make "own brand" household essentials for the supermarkets and discounters. So investors may have read the MCB investment case and applied it to ACRL who are in the same market.

As I have said before the share price appears well "managed".
Pure speculation but I think recent large movement will relate to the shares Lombard Odier bought from NorthEdge a month ago for 25p. Lombard may have taken all the shares at such a low price and be happy to pass some of the risk to other investors for a near 20% profit in less than a month.
We could get a half year trading update on Monday (Monday 21st November last year).
