Unless somebody see's sense very soon the mine will have to be closed and it will be no simple matter to switch it on again. If the plan is to steal it and sell it to the Chinese, this robber baron is going to find that the Chinese will not tolerate being treated in a similar manner. Evidently the Mugabe school of country management is spreading its influence. Whatever the outcome it will have been very damaging to the image of the country as a place to do business.

No you're right there. I still have faith that something will eventually be resolved but with this Tz regime everything is in the melting pot!

Fez- i am a previous holder and sold at a loss. Not short. I am interested in the sp/news as there may/may not be opportunities, not interested in personal buys/sells although i do hate seeing fellow p.i's losing when the deck is stacked. What is your position?

Blind Squirrel - unless you're a holder (which you are not), or unless you are a shorter (which you may be) what interest is it to you whether other people are buying or not?

How many weeks until they close the mines?

If they can't sell the gold - will they be willing to pour in cash to keep the mine open?

It will be amazing if it is investigated independently and no foul play found. May be too wishful thinking.

“As we have stated previously, Acacia Mining refutes each set of findings and re-iterates that it has fully declared all revenues. We have yet to receive copies of the reports issued by the First and Second Presidential Committees.

"The allegations made by the First and Second Committees are included in the matters that both Bulyunhulu Gold Mines and Pangea Minerals have already referred to international arbitration,” Acacia Mining reiterates in a press statement.

This tax bill is absurd, unless government already made a deal with chinese behind the doors and driving the share price down for a possible takeover.

Yes Billy I can see that is over nearly 20 years they claim this amount but it is still astronomically unreasonable.

Best to wait and see what develops, I will never buy in here again, whatever happens.

Tanzania sent Acacia Mining Plc a tax bill equal to almost two centuries worth of the gold producer’s revenue.

Billy I have to stick with my theory. 150 billion is more than the GDP of Tanzania.

The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Tanzania was worth 47.43 billion US dollars in 2016. The GDP value of Tanzania represents 0.08 percent of the world economy. GDP in Tanzania averaged 18.26 USD Billion from 1988 until 2016, reaching an all time high of 48.20 USD Billion in 2014 and a record low of 4.26 USD Billion in 1990.

Traders buying in the low 150's first thing then selling out in the 170's for a quick turn.

No one will want to hold this for more than a few hours because a new RNS could arrive any day, at any moment with even more bad news.

TG out of control.

Enami I don't think so. Do you remember the amounts of gold that the government claim have been exported by Acacia. They were again mental and if true would have made them the biggest gold mining company in the world.

Yes i am convinced the company have quoted US$ in their RNS when they should be quoting TZ Shillings

150,000,000,000 TZS = 67,017,599 USD, a much more reasonable amount

Auction extension

During the opening auction, the opening price (UT) is continuously calculated
If the opening UT price will be more than 5% different than the previous day’s close then the opening auction is extended by 5 minutes.
