Kleinworts are looking for 250,000 - house broker ABN also wants stock. This should really motor next week as T + 10 traders take up positions ready for the figures on 28th.

Up again - several days in a row now.

All buys so far and the chart looks stunning - 75p now within grasp; a little profit taking no doubt and consolidation, before a quick gap up to a quid.

Dealers keep very little stock - any bargains (buys or sells) directly influence price on this one.

I agree Jimmy - 75p looks very likely. £3.50 three years ago and over two quid last year!

Now making good money and "on track"!

Bargain.

Looks good. Holding nicely. Even if retreats, over next the few weeks I can see it reahing 75p on or before results.

There appears to be very little buying,as usual, yet the dealers have moved the price up.Very curious.

Chart looks set for a breakout.

Presumably, as we get closer to the results that are "in line" with expectations the price will keep going up. And I expect that if the dividend is maintained, then these will go ballistic...

Europe heading for RECESSION

Euro dives as wheels fly off eurozone economy
By Ambrose Evans-Pritchard
Last Updated: 10:37am BST 25/04/2008
'The euro has suffered its sharpest drop in four years as a blizzard of weak data from Germany, Belgium, France, and Spain spark fears that economic contagion may be spreading from the Anglo-Saxon world to Europe.

Economic slowdown fears grow as sales fall
By Edmund Conway
Last Updated: 1:06am BST 25/04/2008

Fears have been sparked that the UK economy is heading for a sharp slowdown in the coming months after fresh statistics showed that high street sales are flagging and the manufacturing sector started to creak.

NOT LONG TO WAIT FOR THOSE PROFIT WARNINGS I SUSPECT

Has climbed up from the floor and holding steady. Barring a full blown recession throughout Europe, this one has very long legs.

And a very good yield - currently over 15%.

I thought Abacus was cheap at 89p in July last year, and then the shares fell so I bought some more. The shares kept falling and I just felt they were getting cheaper, so I've bought at various points all the way down to 45p.

So now my current holding means I am 'out of the money', as they say, by approximately 4p per share.

Meanwhile, I've picked up a dividend payment along the way - so I've almost broken even at the current price.

Am I about to sell now just because of MT67 bearish comments? Not on your nelly! I knew the market would eventually see the value here and when the trading statement came out the other day it prompted a long overdue rally. I'm convinced the results will show that things aren't so bad in the electronic components disty market and am fairly confident that we'll see the divi maintained. If the latter does happen then the 75p target that everyone is talking about will come v. quickly.

But even if the divi was halved I reckon the current share price would still end up looking cheap over time.

Yes, Abacus has a lot of debt, but not in relation to profits and certainly not relative to turnover. And enough cash is being made to both pay down the debt and pay dividends. Meanwhile, official interest rates are coming down on both sides of the Atlantic and this will eventually translate to cuts in the rates that commercial banks lend too.

At this stage, I have no concerns. But we'll know for sure when the results come.

Point taken MT67 balanced views important, however lots of companies do have the potential to warn and the potential to exceed expectations. I found the 30/1 and 01/04 announcements reassuring and have a small holding in this share. Results out in less than 6 weeks will give some more guidance.

As always to ALL DYOR...it's your own money that you are risking.

Yep like your handle you are very forthcoming with your advice. Only problem is it has plenty of downside potential when they warn, not to mention how suffocating that debt burden will be. AIMHO.

not a single trade showing yesterday or so far today (although there were a couple yesterday on PLUS)

Anyway don't expect to see sub-50p again, so good entry point here IMHO.

Anyone have any Buy Recs on Abu that they can share...

From ft.com...

'The one analyst offering a 12 month price target expects Abacus Group (ABU:LSE) share price to rise to 200.00 in the next year from the last price of 55.50.'

For the past 3 months it is showing rec as BUY.

I think we will hit 60p very soon indeed and then it will get really exciting, as we get an increase in volume :-)
