Yes, good read Winston thanks. If further consolidation is on the cards and the big players look to M & A to grow, the number 10 in the market must be an attractive suitor. The founders turned down a bid of £3 a few years back. What would tempt them now? £4.50?

The trading updates issued throughout the year have been extremely positive and have clearly indicated a record year all round.

In my experience most companies will err on the side of caution when making forward looking statements with trading updates and, it leaves me to believe that when the figures are released there could yet be a large upside to what is expected by the markets. Should this turn out to be the case I am hopeful that they may re-introduce the special dividends of previous years.

It's already been speculated in press re Sands (see post 13110).

It's also been published DK could be interested in acquiring a European asset and have 1bn+ cash to spend.

A bid is a near certainty Oxman, when it appears and whether the owners will sell are the only unknowns. 888 is a bitesize acquisition for a US leisure company, great brand and even more importantly great prop tech.

Just bought in and hoping I haven't been sucked in at the high and that US opportunity is really a game changer. Never buy for the bid they say but I'd sure be happy to see that as well. Reasonable chance is it not?

Despite very bullish recent updates, and the share price having settled around current levels, I am strongly of the opinion that the end of year figures will be a pleasant surprise to everyone. I felt the last paragraph of the update "We are mindful" etc. was a ploy to play things down a bit.

Will they pay a special dividend. Maybe! I would like to think that any bid would start with the figure 4.

My view is that the current multiple of around 16x is pretty undemanding given the strong returns which 888 generates. I also think the current market forecasts for the next couple years will need to be revised up materially. The rapid growth has happened (I got in at 109p last year thankfully!!) but I still think there's 20% or so p.a. to be made from here, though a mixture of earnings growth and multiple ticking up a little more. M&A is obviously upside.

Good luck all long term holders here been a ride from 320-80p last 3 years but back up now and hopefully a decent takeover premium to come.....any price predictions? I’m going for 385p.
