08/9/2017 14:30 | Brownie, They have lived with those issues for years, nothing has changed. China is China & EU governments have always looked to be doing something with online bookies but in reality little happens. They can ban it entirely but it wont stop people gambling, look at the state's. The UK government knows this , the businesses generate a lot of tax & they will only at worst do things that are a slap across the wrists. The big issue at the moment is the slots and whatever legislation they bring out on these will have no impact with online companies. This industry will continue to consolidate & 888 is probably in prime position for a take out. | oohrogerpalmer
08/9/2017 14:08 | Is it a takeover target or not? | kop202
08/9/2017 08:50 | This company have a lot of issues. Another one that has not really been discussed is where their revenues come from. I know for certain that they get revenue from a black market which they deny. I realise that other operators do the same but they are in general I think more honest about it. EG GVC admit to being in Turkey. 888 do not admit to being in China where they use different brands to disguise their activities. I would not hold this stock at current levels, not all the bad news is in the price IMHO. | brownie69
06/9/2017 11:06 | 888 has large Uk exposure where tightening regulation is likely to squeeze profits further moving forward.dyor. | coxsmn
06/9/2017 09:57 | Bog sell off this morning. Surprising | trentendboy
05/9/2017 18:39 | 888 doesn't hold the best hand at the moment. | coxsmn
05/9/2017 16:17 | Too many negatives and obstacles for me am out good luck everybody. | jamesjoel
05/9/2017 14:49 | No idea what that link tells us as you need an ft sub to read it | shaker44
05/9/2017 14:17 | Now deleted it let me read it the first time. Said investors where worried about the slowdown in growth | jamesjoel
05/9/2017 12:51 | True on a wider issue for the sector. The origins are not clear on this - not even whether Germany is regulated or unregulated. | trentendboy
05/9/2017 11:17 | Only a provision, true but could get worse by $18m according to the note. Cash starved governments increasingly are going to pursue these opportunities. The amount seems huge. The actual VAT might only be half the provision because it will include interest and penalties but even so the implication is that the value of services was c. $125m. Were they that big in Germany pre 2015? Also what changed in 2015, the note doesn't cover that so far as I can see. This should be an industry wide issue not specific to 888 | makinbuks
05/9/2017 09:53 | Good results and it remains only a possible liability. They are agile and fast moving - no mention of corporate action either way - TO or taking over. Still, outlook was strong - this is company in safe hands. There are so few quality assets out there now that 888 remain a highly attractive add on for someone. | trentendboy
05/9/2017 09:32 | Seem fairly decent results but the 50m potential liability in Germany was an unwelcome surprise. | noujay
04/9/2017 09:32 | was hoping we might see a bit of action today with interims out tomorrow, but no sign as yet. | peaeff
03/9/2017 21:10 | Key is that this now clears the way for a TO.Just cannot hold out much longer imo even if it comes from private equity | trentendboy
03/9/2017 21:09 | 17 percent of profits but fat bank account helps | trentendboy
03/9/2017 10:17 | The fine is unlikely to effect the interim results as they would have been formulated before the amount of fine was imposed. They may well decide that it can be paid for by reducing the extra dividend, in which case it will hardly notice as far as company accounts are concerned. AIMO regards | peaeff
02/9/2017 10:49 | I think the market is smart enough to assess the company based on ongoing business performance. Note 888 has $172m of cash or cash equivalents when they last reported so it won't effect the balance sheet much. Seems as though geographical expansion is working well, and the company may well become the subject of a bid from one of the more traditional players in the market. With the cloud over the company seemingly lifted, I may open a position here... | quant_investor
02/9/2017 10:46 | One off hit for sure. Longer term? Not necessarily | trentendboy
01/9/2017 21:04 | 888 profits will take a hit with the fine. | coxsmn
01/9/2017 10:16 | The "fine" news sinking in (bad news but good publicity ironically). Now those stalking 888 will be readying themselves for a TO approach and similarly, 888 might be looking at a major aquisition to keep themselves independent - but who is left? An Hills or LADS deal is just not something that I could imagine. GVC more likely or one of the other independents. | trentendboy
01/9/2017 07:54 | Hopefully next week's figures will give another strong boost to the share price | peaeff
31/8/2017 20:00 | Nice bonus. Should really be on and up from here.Hmmm, tempting to really stack up now | trentendboy
31/8/2017 18:35 | 888 just promoted to ftse250. That won't do any harm | shaker44 |
