I'm afraid that it is now no longer a problem that you will have to deal with.
1/4 shares do not exist. So you have not got any shares now.
excuse my grammer it's late.
You could try buying ntl shares as the two companies are set to merge in spring.
but i would not like to ramp/bias you
could look for similar situ in another company (huge dilution)
there is plenty out there.

LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 21, 2005--Telewest Global, Inc. (NASDAQ: TLWT - News) announces that its subsidiary Telewest Broadband has entered an agreement with Scientific-Atlanta for the supply of new personal video recorder (PVR) set-top boxes, which will be made available to its cable TV customers later this year.
The new PVR set-top box incorporates a substantial 160Gb hard drive and three video tuners, which will allow viewers to receive Telewest Broadband's digital TV service and record two programmes simultaneously while watching a third. This is a step forward from many existing PVRs, which can only manage two channels at once.

The set-top box will also allow customers to pause and instantly rewind live TV if their viewing is interrupted, so they never have to miss a moment of their favourite programmes again.

A simple on-screen menu will make the service easy to use for even the most technophobic households and, once recorded, programmes can be controlled like a DVD or video, without the hassle of tapes. The device will be able to store around 80 hours of programmes.

The Telewest Broadband PVR will also deliver high-definition TV (HDTV) content in the future -- offering a significant improvement in picture quality compared with today's standard-definition digital TV broadcasts, especially on larger plasma and LCD screens.

Eric Tveter, president and chief operating officer at Telewest Broadband, said: "We will make our personal video recorder set-top box available later this year, putting a stop to missed soaps, interrupted films and arguments over which programmes to record. It's a fantastic box of TV tricks that people will wonder how they ever survived without!"

The Scientific-Atlanta agreement follows this week's launch of the first phase of Telewest Broadband's new TV-on-demand service, which will offer a choice of additional movies, TV programmes and specialist content via customers' remote controls.

Eric Tveter added: "Telewest Broadband's unique combination of personal video recorder and television-on-demand services will mean our customers have the best of both worlds -- freedom from the TV schedule with PVR control, and on-demand access to a wider selection of movies and TV content. It's not about offering people more TV, but giving them the freedom to watch exactly what they want, when they want."

NTL to launch video-on-demand
James Ashton, Daily Mail
5 January 2005

CABLE companies NTL and Telewest are weeks away from launching a video-on-demand service that will allow subscribers to download films and TV programmes to watch whenever they want.

NTL's 1.4m TV subscribers will be able to fast-forward and rewind programmes - as if they were playing a DVD - for up to 24 hours after they have paid for a download. Sony and Disney are on board to provide films, which will cost no more than hiring from a rental shop.

The service will launch initially in Glasgow, where NTL first tested out digital television, before being rolled out to all of its regions. NTL is working in tandem with Telewest, its long-touted merger partner, which will begin trials in Bristol next week. A personal video recorder, similar to Sky Plus, will follow by the end of the year.

Video-on-demand technology has long been talked about but slow to take off. Faster internet speeds and cheaper set-top boxes mean broadcasters and telecoms companies are racing to offer new services that they hope will boost subscriber income and loyalty.

Only Kingston Communications in Hull and Video Networks in London offer video-on-demand so far. Kingston is looking for a new supplier for its 5,000 customers after video chain Blockbuster ended their partnership last week.

BT is working on a service for its broadband customers to download TV shows. It is still in talks with programme providers such as the BBC and Channel 4.

OBSERVER - In the cable television industry, the long-awaited merger between Telewest and NTL should be announced before Easter. Simon Duffy, the ambitious head of NTL, is expected to be appointed chief of the new UK cable colossus, which will be better- placed to compete with BT for broadband and telephone customers.
