18/8/2004 16:45 | Maybe some interest to the shareholders left out there. None too serious, but no doubt it will effect profits or lack of them for the next results. Tenth of fleet ordered off the road Aug 17 2004 Colin Hughes, The Western Mail BUS operator 2Travel has been ordered to take almost a tenth of its fleet off the road by the Transport Commissioner. The commissioner ordered the company to take 10 of its fleet of 110 buses off the road for September and told 2Travel that it had "got to improve to a much higher standard". The company has had 33 prohibition notices issued against it in the past two years and 2Travel yesterday blamed vandalism from schoolchildren as the cause of a number of those notices which had meant its buses being put off the road. Appearing in Neath at a public inquiry before the Traffic Commissioner yesterday Aim-listed 2Travel said it was now fitting cameras on buses with school contracts to tackle the problem. Company secretary David Huw Francis said, "We are picking up instances of vandalism in cases where cameras have been fitted on buses. "One camera even picked up a pupil lighting a cigarette packet and throwing it at the driver." The Traffic Commissioner David Dixon reminded him that there was always the "ultimate deterrent" of not carrying out school contracts. But the company's engineering manager Tony Firkins said that vandalism was a serious situation throughout the industry. He said, "Vandalism happens frequently during school contracts. Children damage areas of seating, panelling and, basically, anything they can get their hands on. "We are now making specific note of damage to seats and agree that schools should pay for the damage. In fact, we have successfully invoiced individual schools and they have paid for the damage." But damage to vehicles was not the only reason the company found itself the subject of an inquiry. Bus compliance officer Michael Anderson said a monitoring exercise of 2Travel services operating out of Neath in October last year revealed that of 152 departures 19 failed to operate, 11 left early, 16 left late and 51 had incorrect or no destinations displayed. When 306 Neath departures were checked in April it showed "clear patterns of irregularity" with 37 failing to operate, 14 leaving early, four late and 31 with incorrect or no destinations displayed. Bev Fowles, chief executive of 2Travel said he had written to all drivers as a result of the monitoring exercises pointing out that the company was "falling short of our performance". But he said one major reason for the failure to operate was when buses had to be pulled off services at the last minute to collect 250 pupils after Neath's Dwr-y-Felin School finished early and that traffic congestion had also played a part during the reconstruction of Neath Bus Station. He said there were also problems with the retention of drivers, as a result of which recruits had been taken on from Hong Kong and other countries. He revealed, too, that one driver had been convicted of drink driving after taking a coach party on a five day trip to Folkestone. The driver was expected to take the party across the Channel to Boulogne but on his return he was taken off the coach at Dover and had since been dismissed. Mr Fowles said the company's board had now agreed to introduce a system of random testing. The Traffic Commissioner agreed that a significant number of the prohibitions concerned vandalism but said that 33 in total were "too many" and said it would be prudent if the company reinstated independent auditing of the maintenance systems. He said it was extraordinary that a bus company should have one third of its fleet running out of a town like Neath without showing where they were going. But because the prohibitions were "not serious," Mr Dixon decided to curtail the maximum number of buses 2Travel can run for the month of September from 110 to 100. | advisor
02/8/2004 14:40 | Any more information on this "public enquiry" clippyclive. Can see no reason to sell on that advice. There is plenty of well established haulage companies out there getting a fine here and there for defects all the time, don't think it is anything to worry about, and this could have happened a long time ago, and if they were in serious trouble they would have had their licence revoked which hasn't happened. | advisor
01/8/2004 20:04 | It could be that they have been called in front of a public enquiry on 16 August.DEFECTIVE VEHICLES. If you have shares sell. IMO. | clippyclive
15/7/2004 22:37 | Only 5000 shares sold and the price drops 17%!!???!!? | edwards45
15/7/2004 16:47 | These guys are way way out of their depth. Problem with all tiny companies on the market. fees are disproportionate and the administration involved. Land a red herring - if any value should be sold to concentrate on core business. If any val surely would have done by now. If core business not viable then they and sentimental s/holders should be put out of their misery. Must be sentimental - can see no commercial logic for holding. May be directors will buy out For what though? Want a bus ? - try stagecoach ..dyor etcetc. | gelp
15/7/2004 14:10 | Something has got to be done by the directors to get this back up again. So much for giving shareholder value, people are getting fed up with no news or statements coming from them. Lets see them dig into their pockets and do some BUYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | advisor
15/7/2004 11:56 | Ouch 17% down...looks like there could be a delayed trade on the way.....Market cap now 2.33m....how much do we reckon that land in Swansea could be worth?? | bena1
19/6/2004 10:43 | Got any inside info on this share? Share you info on www.cfdworld.com | tcpipman

18/6/2004 17:04 | That's a rarity - it went up! Whatever next, a decent investor relations strategy? | jasperminka
18/6/2004 16:53 | What a laugh - but why bother with English speakers - the taxi drivers in Cardiff don"t! | gelp
17/6/2004 15:09 | It's better than him buying a one-way ticket to Nepal then issuing a profit warning. It can only be good they are taking more drivers on rather letting them go. One day (soon) we will see the benefits of this expansion. | advisor
16/6/2004 17:58 | Question: Where have Bev and his useless band of teenage website designers, awful financial types and amazingly productive drivers been? Answer: Nepal! I rest my case.... | jasperminka
28/5/2004 12:37 | One day they will be in profit!!!!!!!! Good long term hold. Cheap as chips | advisor

27/5/2004 14:44 | Thanks.....that is the worst website I have ever seen. Here's hoping for some surprise results then! Let me know when you are back on land. | bena1
27/5/2004 14:04 | Ben The website is . It is absolutely pathetic, designed by a welsh teenager with an addiction to "oh so clever" animated gifs and (as they are such cheapskates) hosted on a free server that gives you a popup ad every time you click a link! Also don't bother trying to look for anything about investor relations, results, contact details (not even an address) or shareprice, as its not there. And they never ever ever answer emails. What a great company! Yours (very busy at sea!) J | karld1
27/5/2004 09:42 | Could we be due interim figures tomorrow? TDW has forecast announcement for the 31st. Anybody know anything? Anybody else still holding this stock? I can't find the website address via google, anyone know what it is? | bena1 |
