BP PLC and Volkswagen AG said Thursday that they have partnered to roll out fast chargers for electric vehicles in Europe, with the aim of installing 8,000 new charge points across Germany, the U.K. and other European countries by the end of 2024.
The companies said up to 4,000 charge points are planned within 24 months in Germany and the U.K., and that the battery-based chargers don't require high-power grid connections.
The chargers will be able to deliver up to 160 kilometers of charge in as little as 10 minutes, depending on the electric vehicle.
