BASF SE could achieve the upper end of the 2021 forecast it gave at the end of February, Chief Financial Officer Hans-Ulrich Engel said at the company's virtual capital markets day on Friday.
First-quarter results should give a more precise picture of this, the executive said.
It expects sales in the range between 61 billion euros and 64 billion euros ($71.76 billion-$75.29 billion) and an adjusted operating result, or EBIT, between EUR4.1 billion and EUR5 billion.
Analysts see this guidance as being conservative, with a Vara Research consensus seeing adjusted EBIT at EUR5.3 billion, and an analyst at Baader predicting the figure to come in as high as EUR5.9 billion.
