Longport, Inc. (OTCBB:LPTI), a medical technology specialist in high frequency high resolution ultrasound imaging, today announced the implementation of a clinical study at two Montana skilled nursing care centers in partnership with the Goodman Group. The principal investigator, Dr. Karen Zulkowski, will explore the use of Longport's EPISCAN I-200 for improved clinical detection of pressure ulcer risk and development. Dr. Zulkowski is a professor of nursing at Montana State University-Bozeman and is a member of the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP). Dr. Zulkowski said, "Current practice involves the examination of a patient's skin for signs of pressure ulcers by sight. The use of this new technology will allow health care practitioners to identify and treat tissue damage much earlier, well before we can see changes on the skin's surface. This research is a wonderful opportunity for Montana to be a leader in the use of this groundbreaking technology." Valley Health Care and Rehabilitation Center and Billings Health and Rehabilitation Community, operated by the Goodman Group, have been assets to the Billings health care community for more than 35 years. The hallmarks of the skilled nursing centers go beyond the gracious living spaces provided for residents, updating the communities to stay in tune with modern care philosophies and changing healthcare technology has always been a priority for both communities. Karen Powers of the Goodman Group said, "We are always ready to be the leading innovators in long term care, the communities continually look ahead to new care technologies that could enhance residents' lives. Long known for its special staffing and attention in wound care management, Valley Health and Billings Health are happy to partner with Longport Inc to pilot a new program for preventative wound care management." For more information on any of these programs please contact Valley Health Care and Rehabilitation Center at 406-656-5010 or Billings Health and Rehabilitation Community at 406-656-6500. Connie Phillips-Jones, Director of Clinical Support said, "This initiative is a part of Longport, Inc.'s strategy of gathering clinical study data to open new markets for our technology using evidence-based information."
