THEMAC Resources Group Limited ("THEMAC" or "the Company") (TSX VENTURE:MAC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Ken Pickering as a Director. Ken has also been appointed Chairman of the Compliance Committee. With over thirty five years experience in the natural resources industry in Canada, Chile, Australia, Peru and the USA, Ken has had executive responsibilities in major mine operations as well as the development of world class mining projects. "We are delighted to have Ken on board" said Kevin Maloney, Chairman of THEMAC. "With his background and experience he will made a positive contribution to THEMAC Resources at this pivotal point in the life of the Company". Ken comes to THEMAC from BHPBilliton Base Metals where for six years he was the Vice President of Major Projects, Closed Mines and North American Assets. His position involved the oversight of planning and execution of six operational and infrastructural projects in Chile valued at U.S$3 billion creating an increase of 700,000 tonnes of annual copper production. Ken also served as a Director of The Resolution Copper Joint venture with Rio Tinto and was responsible for the BHPBilliton Pinto Valley Copper Operations in Arizona. Previous to this, Ken was President of Major Projects, Business Development and Corporate Affairs (Chile) where, during his two years in this position, BHP merged with Billiton. Ken was involved in the divestment of several non-core mineral assets and operations in Argentina, China, Canada, Peru, Democratic Republic of the Congo and the U.S. The Escondida Phase Four project was completed during this period which succeeded in increasing copper production by 400,000 tonnes annually. Ken was President of Minera Escondida from 1995 to 2000 and he held various senior management positions with the grass roots inception of Escondida, though construction and startup from 1986 to 1993. Ken received his Bachelor degree in Applied Science - Mineral Engineering from the University of British Columbia and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientist of British Columbia. He also attended the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at the Harvard Business School. THEMAC welcomes Ken and is confident that his extensive experience will make a positive contribution to the Company particularly with the Copper Flat Project.
