Sasol Ltd. warned Thursday of a hit to its North American operations from Hurricane Laura in the first quarter of fiscal 2021.
The South Africa-based petrochemical and energy company said Hurricane Laura, which made landfall on Aug. 27 near its Lake Charles Chemicals Complex in Louisiana, had an impact of around 170,000 tons on the total net saleable tons of its North American operations for the quarter ending Sept. 30.
Sasol said Hurricane Delta made landfall on Oct. 9 as the company was making progress toward a restart of the Lake Charles Chemicals Complex facilities, but no further damage was caused.
Seven chemical manufacturing units have returned to operation and all remaining units which were operating prior to Hurricane Laura are expected to return to operation by the end of October, Sasol said.
