McDonald's Canada said it is transitioning back to takeout service at 30 restaurants to test protective measures as the company's dining rooms remain closed amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Those measures will include contact-free service, entrances and exits with social-distancing markings at various points, protective screens at registers and sanitization at high-touch areas such as kiosks and washrooms, the fast-food giant said Thursday.
The number of guests allowed in the restaurant at one time will be based on the restaurant size, McDonald's said, while drink refills, reusable mugs and condiment stations won't be available.
"We will continue to take the lead from all levels of government and local health authorities as we monitor and adapt what's necessary in these test restaurants," saod Doug Fry, senior director for national operations at McDonald's Canada.
The company said its curbside and drive-thru service also will remain open.
