Biggest Gains in Innovation in the Management Top 250 -- Journal Report

International Business Machines Corp. notched the biggest increase of any company in the latest Management Top 250 in its score for innovation, followed by Automatic Data Processing Inc. and General Electric Co.

The annual Management Top 250 ranking, developed by the Drucker Institute, measures corporate effectiveness by examining performance in five categories: customer satisfaction, employee engagement and development, innovation, social responsibility and financial strength.

In the 2020 ranking, IBM's score for innovation rose 27.3 points from 2019 to 127.1, the second-highest innovation score among the more than 800 companies studied by Drucker. ADP's innovation score climbed 19.2 points to 70.9, and GE's score in the category rose 17 points to 96.5. GE is ranked No. 6 for innovation.

Two other companies among the biggest gainers in innovation also made the top 20 for the category: Intel Corp., No. 12 for innovation, and Qualcomm Inc., No. 18.

IBM, Intel and GE are also among the 20 highest-ranked companies overall, along with one other company among the biggest innovation gainers, Merck & Co.
