Caterpillar Inc. on Wednesday said it will begin offering hydrogen-powered generator sets, capable of running on 100% hydrogen, on a design-to-order basis beginning later this year.
The company said the generator sets will be able to operate on 100% hydrogen, including fully renewable green hydrogen.
The company also said, more immediately, it will begin offering power generation solutions that can be configured to operate on natural gas blended with up to 25% hydrogen.
"We are working alongside our customers to understand their needs, and they are looking for reliable power sources that support their climate-related goals," said Joe Creed, Caterpillar group president of energy & transportation.
