The National Aeronautics and Space Administration should consider assembling an independent team to conduct a "deep look" into open technical issues related to Boeing's Starliner spacecraft, the chairwoman of the agency's Aerospace Safety Advisory Panel said.
Patricia Sanders, during the group's quarterly meeting, cited a battery related matter on Starliner, continuing software testing for the spacecraft and parachutes in remarks about the craft, which hasn't yet flown astronauts to the International Space Station but completed an uncrewed test flight after delays.
The Starliner is currently scheduled to fly astronauts to the station for the first time in July.
NASA officials want the Starliner to serve as a second crewed vehicle option, in addition to a ship operated by SpaceX.
