Atmos Energy Corp. and Xcel Energy Inc. will join the Dow Jones Utility Average prior to the opening of trade on Oct. 27, S&P Dow Jones Indices said Tuesday.
Atmos is replacing CenterPoint Energy Inc., while Xcel will take the place of NiSource, Inc.
"The index changes were prompted by DJUA constituent NextEra Energy Inc.'s decision to split its stock 4:1," S&P Dow Jones Indices said, adding that "the changes help diversify the index at the Global Industry Classification Standard sub-industry group level through the addition of a pure play gas utility while also removing two companies with very low price weights in the index."
