The AFC fuel cell will blow this research out of the water. Forget SOFC, go straight to AFC.hTTps://www.maritime-executive.com/article/new-research-shows-benefits-of-ammonia-as-marine-fuel

Ammonia energy density by volume is nearly double that of liquid hydrogen. It is much easier to store, ship and distribute than Hydrogen.Companies around the world already produce $60 billion worth of ammonia every year.

Japan are importing vast amounts of Australian hydrogen converted to Ammonia for easier shipping and the best fuel cell for the 3 9's hydrogen once it's cracked back is AFC Energy's and where have AFC been testing their PEM? Japan :))Are you following this Jak?

So combine ammonia as the hydrogen source with an AFC power dense fuel cell that saves space and it's ideal for shipping. Even biofuels still have to be combusted and produce carbon!

Ammonia is a source of hydrogen and AFC's fuel cells can use it .

A nice thought but perhaps not yet :- Maersk Promotes Alcohol, Biomethane and Ammonia as Fuel. "According to Maersk and Lloyd's Register, batteries and fuel cells are unlikely to have an immediate role in propelling commercially viable carbon neutral deep-sea vessels".

Make sure you get in before AFC announce a deal to supply the world's biggest shipping builder Maersk with fuel cells.

Filtered poker player JK has not folded yet. He should try 'multi-tasking' for the Swiss Army. Knives need to be sharp though. That is the blunt truth!!

Tewkesbury, "AFC will be worth tens of £billions." Oh dear, someone has escaped from the asylum. JakNife

I know what he said but he is being light with the truth unless his >1A/cm2 is 4A/cm2 (then he would actually say so) which is the state of the leading PEM. He could be comparing it with a PEM unit, just not a a power dense one.

The chart is irrelevant for a company which is going to be the largest fuel cell/power systems/membrane company outside of China.

AFC's HydroX-Cell(S) has the advantages of both space saving high power density and can use lower purity hydrogen (including from cracked ammonia) than PEM's so reducing costs. "Probably the most power dense fuel cell system in the market today." (Adam Bond, AFC CEO, Interview, 11/11/2019)

No that is incorrect; 5x greater than alkaline fuel cells which have historically had a much lower power density to PEM. The leading PEM cells are up to 4x the power density of what AFC have stated (1A/cm2).
