WatchGuard Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:WGRD), a leading
provider of Unified Threat Management (UTM) solutions, today announced
it was awarded CMP Media LLC's Network Computing Well-Connected Award
for its Firebox X Core 2500 firewall solution, which also earned the
publication's Editor's Choice award in April 2005.
The Well-Connected Awards honor the year's outstanding products
the technology industry has to offer in networking. Winners are chosen
by technology editors, and based on products tested and evaluated in
Network Computing's labs. The WatchGuard Firebox X Core 2500 was rated
highly by the publication's expert reviewers for its general
ease-of-use, configuration and management, effectiveness, performance,
and reporting and logging capabilities.
"The Well-Connected Awards are unique because they're the only
industry awards given by technologists based on real-world use and
integration. We view all products, technologies and services from the
same perspective as our readers -- our peers -- do," said John
Siefert, publisher of Network Computing. "This is an important
distinction from any other award program -- the products selected in
the Well-Connected Awards have been tested in an actual business
environment and judged by our editors themselves. They are truly
innovative solutions that work - and we have the metrics to prove it."
"Being selected as a Well-Connected winner is quite possibly the
most meaningful recognition WatchGuard's Unified Threat Management
security appliances could receive," said Allison Armstrong, WatchGuard
director of product management. "The fact that reviews are conducted
by Network Computing's highly regarded staff in real-world
environments and published in one of the industry's most respected
magazines sets this award apart. WatchGuard will build on these
accomplishments as we continue to drive innovation and provide our
customers with advanced appliances that offer easy management and the
highest level of security."
WatchGuard's line of Unified Threat Management solutions provide
comprehensive security integrating stateful packet firewall, VPN, Zero
Day attack prevention, gateway antivirus, intrusion prevention,
anti-spyware, URL filtering and spam blocking, reducing the time and
cost associated with managing multiple-point solutions and
significantly increasing protection from blended network attacks.
WatchGuard's true Zero Day protection stops new and unknown threats
such as viruses, attacks, Trojans and spyware through its unique
Intelligent Layered Security.
All WatchGuard security products are backed by WatchGuard's Live
