$0.065 Per Share 


WHITE PLAINS, New York, April 15  /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sound Federal
Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ:SFFS) (the "Company"), the holding company for Sound
Federal Savings (the "Bank"), announced that its Board of Directors declared a
cash dividend of $0.065 per share to be paid on May 12, 2005 to stockholders of
record as of April 29, 2005.

Sound Federal Savings is a federally chartered stock savings bank offering
traditional financial services and products through its branches in New York in
Mamaroneck, Harrison, Rye Brook, Peekskill, Yorktown, New Rochelle, Somers,
