Microsoft Corp. on Wednesday said it named former McAfee Chief Executive Christopher Young executive vice president of business development.
The Redmond, Wash., technology giant said Mr. Young will be responsible for developing its global business development strategies and will report directly to CEO Satya Nadella.
Peggy Johnson, who had been Microsoft's executive vice president of business development since 2014, left this summer to become CEO of spatial-computing startup Magic Leap.
Microsoft said Mr. Young's duties will include leading the evaluation and execution of strategic partnership opportunities, including alliances, venture investments and joint ventures.
Mr. Young, who left McAfee early this year to join private-equity firm TPG as a senior adviser, helped establish the cybersecurity-software company as a standalone business following its spinout from Intel Corp. in a deal that gave TPG a 51% stake in the business.
McAfee, which Intel bought in 2011, returned to the public market with an IPO last month.
