At 4.30 am ET Thursday, the Office for National Statistics releases UK retail sales data. Sales, including auto sales, are forecast to grow 0.2 percent on month in July, reversing a 0.5 percent fall in June.
Ahead of the data, the pound retreated from its early highs against its major rivals.
The pound was worth 140.67 against the yen, 1.2609 against the franc, 1.2698 against the greenback and 0.8957 against the euro as of 4:25 am ET.
