At 4.30 am ET Thursday, the Office for National Statistics releases UK retail sales data for September. Sales are forecast to grow 2.9 percent on month, faster than the 2.2 percent increase in August.
Ahead of the data, the pound held steady against its major counterparts.
The pound was worth 1.2785 against the greenback, 0.8664 against the euro, 1.2693 against the franc and 139.10 against the yen at 4:25 am ET.
